So, recently moved into Duck House which ain't a million miles from Shipley. I thought about getting a second car so before buying I thought I'd obtain a quote.
Here it is from Halifax Bank. I'm still on the floor reeling.

Jesus Christ, I'm in my seventh decade, I'm not some 19 year old acne faced individual that wears a back to front baseball cap that has difficulty comprehending the Queens English smoking some queer tobacco with a mobile phone glued to my ear.
So I phoned them and they said the underwriters didn't like the postcode.
Bloody selective Tom Tit (the brown waste) heads.

Wow, you must be a very bad man.

My son (18) got robbed of 400 squid yesterday for changing from a 1.3 suzuki wagn r+ to a colt 1.1. Both very similar value.

    Bar stewards.

Ii couldn't afford to live there. I pay under $2000 a year for a 2012 Toyota Tacoma V6. Full coverage and that also includes my renters insurance for my apartment and storage shed. Oh, and I run into something about every three years or so resulting in a claim.

My insurance is about £500 for my corsa.
Not driven for few yrs so only got one yrs no claims.
When i came to renew in February they quoted some silly renewal price of about £1900. Wtf
Think they try it on for the odd person who doesn’t shop around.
Anyways quick call got a sensible renewal quote which i went with.

For Heavens sake it's just a 1.2 litre runaround not a Ferrari with two engines and 8 turbo's.

That's insane! What's the problem with your postcode? Are there a lot of car thefts in your area?

Now firstly I am not being racist so let's get that crystal clear.
I have had a Next Base dash cam fitted to my car for a month right now, some of the things I've seen and recorded beggars belief. Asians deliberately jumping red lights, some at speed, two VW Golf's easily doing over 60 mph in a 30 zone on the wrong side of the road then through red lights. Motorcyclists doubled up (pillion) with no crash helmets, emerging from a side turning too far out making some swerve potentially accident causing. I will not give them way or quarter, I have dash cam. Driving through Barkerend Road & the parallel Leeds Road to get to my grandchildren is a nightmare, they have no idea, park on DYL, Zig-Zags, double park all over the place.
Guess what? the woodentops do nothing.

Bradistan and Rochdale are lovely places.

The way to solve this is to remove all safety protection from society and let Dawin theory of evolution go to work

I was expecting you to be insuring a new Lamborghini or Ferrari at that price.

I've just renewed my car insurance for my Hyundai i10 1.2 litre which will be 2 year old this coming October. It cost me £266.89 fully comp including protected NCD,Motorist Legal Expenses and a guaranteed courtesy car should i be involved in an accident and my car is off the road plus there is no compulsory or voluntary excess.£90 for a replacement windscreen if needed or £10 for windscreen repair and £10,000 personal accident cover. That's with Liverpool Victoria. Could have got it cheaper for about £200 but they either had a high excess and/or protected NCD,MLE or guaranteed hire car were extras or they were companies i wasn't familiar with.
Originally it was insured with RIAS and the premium with them was originally about the same i.e £266 but last year it went up to £289 and this year they wanted £310 so needless to to say they got the chop.I'm quite ruthless now with insurance companies as soon as they start hiking a premium up when you've haven't claimed it's bye bye.

Banks have always been a rip off for insurance. Get a quote from Admiral on their multicar policy (and be careful with the parking question, usually On Street is cheapest.)

I think Liverpool Victoria offer a multicar policy as well if you want to insure more than one car on the same policy.
Wouldn't have thought 'on street' is the cheapest it's usually 'garaged' then ' on driveway' then 'on street'.When i've gone on these comparison sites that's the order it normally falls in.
I think Bradford( Little Pakistan or West Islamabad)is another expensive area for car insurance and if you ever watch police interceptors you'll understand why.

    Thanks shocking!

I live in one of the worst hot spots in the country for 'crash for cash' scams by the asian fraud gangs and uninsured and unlicenced drivers, it's like wacky races out there - avoid a collision at all costs, not least because they gang up and pull guns and such on you even if its their fault, it can be pretty hairy, hence I'm armed to the teeth with dash-cams, bodycams, bullet proof vest... :D

I had trouble getting a decent quote on my Audi A6 2.5TDI Quattro and was advised to try through a specialist insurer called Chris Knott.

Join one of the owners forums to get a reference number and give them a call, I got an all singing all dancing policy for £600 with only 3 years NCD last year. ;)
