1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

OK, we've done variations on how great we can shoot when it all comes together. Normally I'm pretty handy with a rifle and although I will never make a champion target shooter I'm pretty decent under normal circumstances.

Here is what happens when it all goes that strange shape of pear:

    *ahem* I was saying ?

    ;)

Yes, that's a sheet of A4 and I was shooting at 25 metres

    Seated

And from a rest

I usually subscribe to the "bad workman who blames his tools" theory, however, in my defense, this particular gun isn't indexing the magazine fully so pellets are getting deformed :(

Despite much tweaking, nipping, tucking and swearing it stubbornly refuses to improve significantly.

Additionally, manually loading each pellet to rule out magazine cycling issues reveals further problems:

An improvement of sorts, but it does illustrate that there are problems with the barrel and/or loading probe as well.

    b****r...

    :(

I realise we could take this to extremes by shooting deliberately badly (some of us might not need to be too deliberate about it ;) ) but have any of you had a problem gun or one you've monkeyed on with, only to find that it suddenly has delusions of grandeur and thinks it's a shotgun ?

The gun in question is a Logun Gladiatator, and it's started to get me blimmin annoyed....

Given his general opinion (or lack thereof) of Logun rifles I can imagine what he'll say...

    ;)

    :D

Your meds haven't quite kicked in yet, have they ?

Or maybe they have after all...

    ;)

I might be fat and forty-something, but I think I have a year or three of shooting left in me yet

I cheered myself up slightly after the above by getting my old Theoben Sirocco out and spending ten minutes shooting pellet holes with it at the same target. Not bad for a 30 year old break barrel rammer :D

Crown is fine - it's been cut and re-dressed twice just to make sure :)

    It's everywhere else that's pooched ;)

Have you tried loading a pellet then open the bolt and pushing the pellet back out to check for any deformed signs? "Make sure safty is on if you do" Also don't forget to check the barrels air port hole if its a PCP "if its some one else's rifle or bought second hand the previous owner may of drilled the hole bigger and left it ragged" this can also cause pellet damage.

To put this into context, I tried 6 different pellets with broadly similar results, give or take an inch or so on the entire spread, and I got the same results with or without a moderator, so we have a twofold issue of mag cycling and something in the breech/barrel causing issues.

    Bah...

Tussled with the gun a bit more this afternoon; some progress, but not fully resolved yet :(

Magazine cycling looks a lot better with no fouling that I can see

When I removed the barrel and inserted a pellet, there was some resistance as it went past the o-ring just before the port hole, but then once past the port hole it suddenly stopped and took a lot of force to shift.

    Aha !

So I used a permanent marker and marked around the head and skirt of a pellet and repeated the exercise:

    Meh.

Rub marks on the head and what looks like swarf on the skirt...

So I unscrewed the brass barrel inlet from the barrel and basically 'crowned' the inner bore.

On reassembly, shooting at 30 metres, things have improved noticeably:

The Air Arms Field group is almost approaching acceptable. Almost...

At about an inch across it's twice the size it should be at that range when I'm shooting rested.

Not sure where to turn next at this point - it's better but still not usable.

Back in the cabinet until a window of opportunity presents - meanwhile, the hunt for clues to solve this mystery continues...

I got a similar problem with my Daystate Mk3. Surgically accurate with the single shot tray but groups like a blunderbuss with any magazine, new, fettled or otherwise
