1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

As above, I'm in the "what does she know" camp.
Im trying to explain to the snowflakes at work that she's only 16, she's never been anywhere or done any work on the subject as she's still in school, if she was say 21 & studied it for 5yrs I'd listen but surely she's just regurgitating stuff she's read on the Internet.
Now they want to give her a Nobel prize!

I think she just a passionate human being who see's the real importance of trying to fix climate change. She is doing good, not harm.
And I'm not surprised in the slightest about her knowledge on the subject. Some young peoople, especially the Nordic people are very intelligent. Compare her to some 16 year olds in this country.
No, in my opinion she can only do good, not harm.

Very similar to a certain Chris Packham on the mental health front.

Whilst I have to admire her passion and conviction, can't help feeling that she's just being used as evidenced by the recent stunt of sailing her over the Atlantic. Ultimately, unless the US start taking climate change (per se) seriously, then she and her cause will be taken about seriously as Dangerous Brian ...

A brave Afgan school girl, shot in head by Taliban, recovered and did international tours to promote female education.
Some people would describe her as brain damaged.

    Good post. An intelligent post.
As a father of a severely autistic 26 yr old son with Aspergers and so much anxiety he wouldn't be seen dead in a room of strangers never mind the United Nations audience, I feel if she is on that spectrum she is very, very courageous indeed. I suppose she's an easy target for some people.

And that means what exactly? Does that make her less admirable? Or do you mean they have a mental excuse for their points of view which differ from yours and because of that they are un-touchable?

Easy target, or easy target for a cause to use ? On the fence about using young people with 'problems' (apologies if this is the wrong word to use) as view it as simple exploitation seized on by large charitable organisations trying to further their cause, worthy or not. To justify my comment, I have seen friend's children with ADHD etc who have undoubtedly been helped by a charity, only for them to be later used for fund raising activities with little thought about the effects it may have on them afterwards when the limelight is no longer on them.

That's fine. But to be honest I have never heard of such a thing. I didn't even know she was on the scale or suffered any mental illness until I read about her in a magazine whilst waiting for the dentist to rip out a tooth. But as far as I'm concerned I'm pretty sure she probably chose to do what she's doing without being selected for whatever reason. I personally don't feel she is being used in any way that she didn't want to. She's very intelligent and very passionate.I still see no wrong in what she's doing. Mental or not. This is just my opinion. You are free to have yours.

I would be more impressed if she were to campaign for a world wide reduction in human population which is undoubtedly the root cause of the rape of the Earth as we know it. Maybe she will do this when she is older and has the opportunity to have her own thoughts as I have yet to see any politician tackle this unmentionable subject. I think that David Attenborough must have been well and truly told off for mentioning it as he has not done since. In the meantime campaigning against a symptom is about what I would expect of a 16 year old that has been fed the information that she has. She is still a child really so I cannot blame her any more than I do a badly behaved dog. As for the people manipulating her, they should be ashamed for taking away her childhood - plenty of time traditionally for fighting causes when you are older and responsible for your own actions.

Fishing in the 1960's had cod virtually crawling up the beach, same place now will be lucky to get a bite. Having met some environmentalists I doubt they come from the same planet but that should not detract from the issues.
Pigeon control for public health and crop protection is a reasoned argument for shooting. CP's mentality is not.

Interesting analogy and there was something in the press earlier about the cod stocks not being as high in the north sea as predicted, with the result that the blue label sustainably status (?) has been withdrawn and we should now all feel guilty (and buycott) about eating cod from there. This, and the whole issue of climate change, is such a difficult thing to predict or measure that it is based on supposition and anecdotal evidence as the human population has simply not been round long enough to confidently say whether the scientists are right or wrong, and what we are seeing is not just a natural cycle, albeit one that possibly seems to be accelerating based on what we think we know so far ?

I've no doubt that climate change is a real thing, exacerbated by the increase in human population and all the environmental pressures placed upon limited resources, but can we be confident in our assumptions that the apocalypse is only just around the corner ?

I wrote this a little while ago!

Lets face facts. Overconsumption is a real problem, however reducing individual consumption will fast be overtaken by population growth.

    We have become a pest.

The choices are: Birth control for 150 years to reduce the human swarm.

War, plague or famine to cull our numbers.

Inhabit other planets and repeat the process.

However you look at it, the human race needs to be depleted significantly to ensure survival of the species.

People were batteries that powered the generation of profit for the elite. AI and bots will become the new source of wealth and the need for factory fodder, in the shape of people will cease.

Once we no longer generate profit, we will become redundant and ultimately our numbers will be driven down by one of the above methods.

The only method that creates revenue is unfortunately war.

I believe that Mrs Rothschild said” If my boys didnt want war, there would be no war”
