1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

thats a question that really only you can answer, first what will you be useing the rifle for and second what do want from your scope, generally if target shooting the nikko sounds the better option, hunting i personally like to keep things simple and with the 4x44 with the parralex adjusted to say 35y you'd be surprised how well with a bit of paractice you can actually learn to use the reticle to judge range etc also try them both side by side in different light conditions ect and see which your eye gets on with better, but generally its something you can only decide once you decide what you want to achieve with the combo, sorry im not much help :p

The nikko is a no where near the quality of the older Tasco i would choose the Tasco anyday of the week.

Yeah, the Nikko is better featured (PX, MD ret, variable mag) however (assuming it's is an old one) the Tasco will be many times better in terms of quality.

The Tasco needs to have its parallax adjusted to about 30-35yds if its still got the factory setting, normally 100yds.If this is done properly then it's really just whether you want variable magnification or not If you're not confident in altering the parallax on the tasco then the Nikko would be the better option.

Most of the better Tasco scopes where made in japan but if its euro class 6x44 it must be reasonably old because you have not been able to buy a new one for quite some time.

[h=3]“Tasco World Class Plus has adjutable eye relief and is...”[/h]Written on: 22/01/2006 by gamohunter (16 reviews written)
    Good Points
Very bright and clear optics for low light use special coating on lense
    Bad Points
    None
    General Comments
Tasco World Class Plus has adjutable eye relief and is very bright for low light conditions and quick point and shoot hunting. It's the top of the line in Tascos it's the same as the Tasco Titan range and it's not same as the same as the ordinary world class scope. It must have the plus on it, it's been more sucsessful for me at hunting than my adjustable scopes

Looks like a newer (post-pear-shape) Tasco rather than one of the older, better quality models (see my post here for more details). In which case it's probably broadly comparable in quality to the Nikko..

I've still got a Tasco 4x40WA world class scope which I bought about 30 yrs ago, still got the original packaging with the price tag on the box(£53.10).They came with a 10yr guarantee. The body tube has a shiny black finish not matt black, the turret caps are rubber covered and the lenses have a purple coating on them.It doesn't have a quick focus eyebell It was made in Japan.

All the top end tasco's where made in japan the Euro class and the titan are the same scope they just changed the name and the old world class were made in japan as well.Tasco never made scopes themselves they were just a name and comissioned to different companies for different scopes depending on the quality of the product they wanted-the scopes made in Korea and China are just poor subsitutes for the Japanese items they may carry the name Tasco but imho are no better than fake second rate stuff.

I had a Mountmaster on a BSA Ultra and the only issue I had with it was the wire reticle came loose and moved around freely. I managed to take the eye piece off completly and pop a small amout of super glue on the reticle thread.

This is the only reason I have ruled Mountmasters out of my new scope list for my 95 and will most likely go for something like a Hawke Panorama with etched reticle.
