1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

    Well, here comes another question...

I've scrapped the idea of getting an AA S200, thought I'd rather get a gun that'll last me years and years, without wanting to upgrade...

The two I now have in my sights are:

    Daystate Huntsman Classic
    AA S410 Carbine

Out of those two, which would you lot reccomend I get? I'll be using the gun for hunting...

    Cheers,
    Shaun.

My choice would be the Air Arms because it's cheaper (and better value), has an arguably better mag system and trigger.

In the Daystate's favour, it lends itself better to use as a single shot (although Rowan do a nice adaptor for the S410) and the anti-tamper is less intrusive.

I don't like the shrouded barrel on the Huntsman much as it adds length without doing much to silence the rifle and makes the gun super long without any benefits of the longer barrel & cylinder if you fit a decent silencer (despite Daystate's claims that their Airstream mod is the best ever, it's not).

End of the day you won't go far wrong with either :)

Looked at both and they are both great guns :D
If I were to buy again though it would be the S410 purely because the gun itself and the extras are cheaper, the Daystate ends up quite expensive by the time you add a silencer & extra mag on top of the purchase price.
Did you go to Shooting Supplies in the end?
If so Allcocks in Stourport has the Daystate for £699 I beleive, its £729 in Shooting Supplies

Well thanks for the advice so far guys!

Smallman, yeah I did, lovely shop! :) Was in a bit of a rush, so couldn't hold any guns! :-( Going back on Tuesday!

One more thing about the S200, the stock is really small... I have long arms so maybe a bit too small! :/

personally i'd go with the aa of the 2, but with the budget you've got, i would consider the aa s510 superlite, its got the shrouded barrel, ambi, lighter and still cheaper than the daystate.

mainly shrouded barrel and sidelever cocking system. the shrouded barrel has a harder wearing exterior compared to standard blueing. both as accurate as each other, so i think between the 2, its personal choice mate

Hmmm, I kinda like the bolt action! So out of the 510 and 410, think I'll stick to the 410! :)

i have an s410f superlite its very accurate and a good rifle but if you put the s410 and the huntsman side by side you can clearly see the huntsman is the better quality rifle . both would as accurate as each other and both will do the same job but if you have the money mate go for the daystate atb

I've not shot an S410, but I own a Huntsman (the "new" Midas model which is more or less the same as the Classic), and the Huntsman feels nicer to me. It's slightly heavier than the Huntsman (in its standard format, anyway), not that weight would be a deal-breaker for me as I'm used to a TX200 which is half as heavy again! I like the looks of the Huntsman over the S410, and the safety on the Huntsman is nicely-positioned, positive and resettable too.

I think the S410 probably represents better value for money, in that you get about the same performance as the Daystate but for £100 or so less. Then again if you feel you want a Huntsman and you're saying you want a rifle you'll keep for life, I don't suppose £100 is here or there in a way when you consider the years of use you will have from it. Tough choice, but I don't think you'll be disappointed whichever you choose! :)

the quality on the huntsman is wayyyy ahead, 410 is cracking little rifle but if you have the money for a huntsman then i would go for that :)

Performance wise, like said.... no different.

Another thing to consider is the finish on both rifles; the Air Arms has blued steel bits and matt-anodised ally bits. The Daystate has powder coated steel and matt-anodised ally.

Due to it's lack of blued bits the Daystate will be less susceptible to rust than the Air Arms, however powder coat is a cheap process and think it's a bit of a joke on a gun of that cost and one that's touted as part of a "prestige" brand..
