1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

In other airgun forums especially the dark beebeessss hype is all over the Walther LGU and it's the best rifle in the world and here on the Airgunforum.co.uk I read barely posts about this supposedly best spring gun since sliced bread? What is the matter? ^^

I'm guessing no one has bought one or haven't got round to writing anything about it as it's just days old?

To be honest I try and ignore all the hype, if not I would be spending money like water. It's tempting enough with all the good kit on the market. I have seen a YouTube clip of it though.

hopefully I'll run I to someone at the range who has one and try it out etc. from what I can see it looks good, but then so do a lot others :)

    cheers

Aware several of my Members having them on the Ranges @ my Club - But seems they never kept them

As did not find them value for Money in UK

Guess other Board users must have also tried them - but not worthy of keeping or Posting about

" hype" is why I have a £1400 airwolf here that I would struggle to get £800 for now

I believe your thinking of the LGV this is the LGU which apparently the best underleaver springer straight out the box which isnt bad for a £350 gun.
Its not for limp wrists though as its very heavy it does shoot very smoothly, preffer the wieght and handling of the TX200 MK3 but TX needs short stroking IMO.

I'm very pleased with my LGU - you may have seen it on youtube VHTV - after 500 pellets it is bedding in nicely. The recoil is minimal and there is no spring twang - just a dull thud. It shoots nicer out of the box than my TX200 MK3.

It is also very accurate .... hitting 1/2 inch diameter tubular wind chime repeatedly at 67 yards. Definitely a keeper and at £350 I consider it a steal. I usually get my air rifles tuned ...... the LGU doesn't need it.

Nice to hear from somebody that has actually got one, cos a lot of people who haven't got one are tending to talk a lot of twoddle about them. I have room for just one more rifle, and I may well give one of these a go, they do seem on the face of it to be excellent value for money. I am not a hunter, so the weight is of no concern to me, in fact it's a bonus. I will hang fire a while though and see what the general consensus is a in a few months time.

This is just a personal opinion you understand, but I have never understood the attraction of Daystate, they don't do anything any better than a lot of other rifles, they just cost you more to do it. At the end of the day, it aint the label on the gun, or how much it costs, it's the person squeezing the trigger that decides how good a rifles performance is.

    To me, a Daystate rifle, is a just like a designer T-shirt, a T-shirt is just a T-shirt.

People have already started reporting quality issues and trigger failures on the LGU, much like the LGV, so it looks like they haven't leaned how to fix the issue.

My LGU is operating fine ..... if Walther say this is normal wear, it's been tested and doesn't affect performance then it shouldn't put you off buying one. Admittedly the wear doesn't look pretty, but unless you strip the rifle you wouldn't know it's there. At worse, Walther will recall them and fix them free of charge. Not heard anything about a problem with the trigger apart from the first stage pull being very long out of the box.

Shot an LGV at the British Shooting Show and I didn't like it. Plastic stock felt sharp and it kicked like a mule - though this was straight out of the box so needed settling in.

No I aint keen on synthetic stocked rifles, but this thread is about the Walther LGU which has a Minelli (shpelling?) wooden stock. Kicked like a mule??? I don't know any air rifle that can do that, try a big powder burner if you want to know what "kicked like a mule" feels like.

Never heard of the thing myself and much like the gaming world you have to look out for the hype, it's bitten me on the backside more tiems than I care to mention. Examples of over-hyped rubbish games include Dead Island, Bioshock Infinite, Saints Row the Third and GTA IV. To be honest GTA V wasn't the impovement I was looking for either. Maybe GTA VI will fix things in the distant future? Who knows...

Yep I think you are right, that's why I said earlier that I will hang fire and see what's being said a few months down the line from now, journo twaddle and hearsay on forums is not the best way to judge whether buying anything, never mind a certain make / type of rifle is going to be good for you. I will wait and see what owners have to say, then go and try one meself.:)

I like the look of the LGU, I am very much a traditionalist, I likes wood and deep blued metal, I likes GR or Springer rifles............the jury is still out as far as I am concerned, but I will be looking with interest at any threads from folk who have an LGU.

The lgv was advertised/hyped as the best airgun in the world, then reviewers had it and they said it was amazing, then after that they just melted away.

Some place is selling them at £305, can't remember where though, might be in t chesterfield.....
Even if it's not amazing, at that price it's still competitive
