1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

Im a firm believer in everything I own has a price, but got up today not expecting to sell my shotguns in a million years.

Ive was quite content on my two Brownings, the Maxus semi is my main tool bought new last year Ive shot over 2000 woodies and crows with, and shoot it well now.

My other Browing is/was a Heritage 30" sporter, bought as a clay/game gun the wood on this is after a year of looking the best piece of wood Ive seen on a sub £10K gun and I admit Ive shot it once! yes once!

But I advertised it simply because like I say I think they all have a price, so that was the price I would let it go for any less and I would happilly keep it as an investement.

Anyway, I had a call from a nice bloke today, dealer from Norfolk, we had a chat he simply said he would take the heritage without seeing it through RFD transfer, then we got talking about what I shoot most regular, and got an offer on the maxus, so I think I will take it, don't know what the heck next though but I will probably regret this but hey onwards and upwards.

So Ive handled a few guns I like but owned very similar guns, like the beretta eell I do like but only had a LTD edition silver pigeon with fantastic wood up to last year, best Ive ever seen so what would the same gun but sideplated give me? also some say the 725 isn't half as well made as some older brownings, some have said to me don't bother as I would be let down after the heritage, so Im kind of stuck.

I do like the feel of the new 725 and love the handling of EELL although neither are as strong and well made as the Heritage Im selling, but handle faster.

Ive also thought about a dt11 but Im told some say they are too well engineered to the point they feel dead bulky.

Also never owned a perazzi but for 5 grand mark I would only be looking at secondhand and most look well used.

Ive looked at blazers but Im told a few horror stories about the first ones, although they look sorted now, but I like some engraving at least and may not be able to afford one with that.

What do you guys think makes the best buy from 4-6 grand as it will be mainly clays and maybe the odd game day needs to be 30", and I would want it to have very nice wood, I think I may keep the semi as Im actually having a word with myself as I type, so I will be looking for a do everything anything type of gun to replace the heritage, any suggestions?

    Hi Engraver

I'm not going to make a suggestion as I'm out of my depth on this, but I will throw out a bit of advice which will probably be more like a reminded to you: As long as you buy at a price close to what you can sell it at, you can try out the guns one at a time and see if any live up to your expectations or "feel" right.

I made the mistake a long time ago of buying my boyhood motorbike when I grew up, it was not a patch on the one I sold, but sometimes you have to do it - I later replaced it again with the one I sold to buy it in the first place - now that was a bike:D LOL.

Surely if a dealer is willing to pay your price, then your price is too low since he will be looking to make a profit. Just food for thought.

Well 850 quid more than I paid tends to seal the deal wether it fits or not :)

Shop may make a bit but he has overheads to pay I dont.

Up to now Ive never lost money on a shotgun ive bought over 2 grand mark its only semi autos that loose hand over fist so ive decided to keep that as my daily user in fact im out now as I type on my phone shooting crows with it, which is not what you want to be doing with 5k guns anyway.

Ive selected a few guns out so im going to look at a nearly new eell beretta and another hertitage but this time 20 bore as they are quicker handling in the smaller bore.

The other gun is a new 725 grade five but I think I will be let down after a heritage.
