1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

What if , instead of having to get guns delivered to a local RFD (which to many of us is not my idea of local) you could nominate a local Police station. The gun dealer could contact them with your details and a unique pin , this would verify you as the customer. You could then present your ID to the counter staff who could quickly verify it and also check your suitability to own a weapon. If all ok they could reply to the dealer authorising a parcel force delivery. Surely this would be a win win for all concerned .

Except it is not the job of the Police to act as intermediary agents for retail businesses. It is outside their remit - and they would not relsh the extra paperwork.

The police are public servants and as such do as they are told by politicians. At present any d******d with a utility bill and fake ID can walk into a shop and buy a potentially lethal weapon , maybe they would welcome the ability to oversee this in the same way they issue FAC`s. A You Gov petition with 100,000 signatures requesting an amendment, if successful , would leave them no choice. I know this would be the start of a slippery slope to licencing which is not the most popular idea , but maybe a price worth paying to preserve our sport and it`s hardware vendors ?

Or what about if the shooting community grew a pair and had this and some other stupid legislation imposed on us repealed.!

Any second hand gun privately sold can be sent to the purchasers home ,which drives a coach and horses through this little nugget of the VCR act!

I agree bad legislation but your not going to get any politician to water it down , more likely to close loop hole banning private sales leaving us at the mercy of RFD`s . None of them will want to be singled out as having voted to make guns more accessible when little jonny gets a pellet in the eye. So the question remains how do we enhance current legislation to make it work for us ?

I think you are a turkey, voting for Christmas. They beaurocrats haev enough stupid ideas of their own, without giving them more.

WHEN you give the Police the power to control this, do you think it would stop there? NO LEGISLATION ON GUNS HAS MADE A JOT OF DIFFERENCE TO THE CRIME FIGURES. You can get a Beretta 9mm semi auto pistol and a box of ammo for less than the price of an HW100. If you don't want to buy it, you can RENT it! The FAC system is failing, how do you think an airgun system would work any better? NO legislation can prevent idiots and what they get up to.

Totally agree with you 100% accuspell . My problem is I see further legislation as inevitable, and rather than just vote for christmas I would also like a say in what present I get, rather than sit back to find out that molyslip was`nt the lube I actually needed.

    This.

At present any d******d without a utility bill or fake ID can walk into any hardware or sports shop and buy any number of potentially lethal weapons (kitchen knives, axes, baseball bats) that would be far more efficient at killing, if that's their intention..

Our sport is already subject to more than enough legislation IMO; and many significant firearms incidents in the past can be traced to human error / policing failures rather than inadiquate legislation.

You can't legislate for Censored; neither can you legislate for human shortcomings, ineptitude or lazyness.

Just to give you an idea of what licensing would mean for the sport.I for one would sell my extensive collection of airguns and have nothing to do with the sport ever again. This, out of complete contempt for the meekness of the shooting community and the ridiculous notion that somehow a sub 12ftlb airgun was actually a weapon and worthy of that sort of control ,when every kitchen in the country has at least one large carving knife in a kitchen drawer, which is potentially a far more dangerous piece of equipment!
I know others who feel the same as I do,so gradually the sport would die a death.Politicians are not our friends and cannot be reasoned with!
