1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

The current pandemic situation is having an impact on all of us to varying degrees, this is not only have an impact on our physical health, but, also in other ways; financially, socially and on our mental health.

So let’s collectively support each other through this, no time for belligerence, arguing, intolerance, selfishness and insular behaviour so let’s help each other. As I’ve said before this is a very well modded forum so any signs of this sort of unhelpful behaviour please mods kick it into touch.

People will undoubtedly have more time to fiddle with their airguns, this’ll be a good thing as keeping occupied during these unprecedented times has to be good. If anyone needs and help and advice pm me and I’ll give you my mobile. If you don’t live too far come round.

Lastly, let’s keep an eye on our older members as they’re the most vulnerable and might need some support. Be helpful if everyone put their location on their profile.

I'm thinking if a Forum thread is put up, where concerned members who have no close family/friends/neighbours could check in/like each day or something like that... eventually where a missed check in could be followed up somehow..
I guess it would need some kind of privacy, admin from forum could eventually receive more detailed contact information from the concerned members..
For example a private message to admin:

Hi I'm Joe Bloggs, I'm 82 and live alone.. If I don't reply each day...please contact .......................... or ring to local police, my address is................... ................... ...................

something like that, or even just between members in a local area..
    Just an idea...
    Good health to you all...

    Well said Andy.

I also think that anyone in need of a hand with something should be encouraged to ask for help. I'm sure there's a lot of old-school "just get on with it" types of people on AGF, but please don't go putting yourselves at risk unnecessarily. With so many kind and generous members around, I'm sure there would be an offer of assistance.

Let’s not use FB as an example, they’re all fighting and arguing over who and what caused it! Who cares, it’s there so let deal with it an support each other.

There is another thread just started about dive shops etc closing so possibly no availability of bottle refills so something that lets people know that you have a compressor, what area you are in and are willing to help might be a good idea for the PCP’ers.

My wife was checking the Guardian website where they have a list of number of cases per region.
Cumbria was higher for cases than Birmingham!!!:eek:
    Lancashire was higher than Manchester....:eek::eek:

Things may have changed now, but those of us in rural areas could be in hotspots.(seems counter-intuitive)....stay safe fellas.....

Note - these data were number of cases, not deaths.

I'd like to think the humour remains here. Most of us know the score with a bit of banter.
I'm also positive there will be much fixin'/fettlin'/stock oilin' going on. So plenty of advice to be asked and given.
For my part if any members here are at risk and worried their collection may be undervalued if the worst happens..............
I can offer a service of looking after said collection and knowing the value. I won't even charge for this service.......... :nana::shrug::D

I'd noticed the same--and was surprised to see the Cumbria figure. Saying that, I know two people from Lancashire who've stayed in The Lakes in the past two weeks.

How about donating rabbits to older members. I guess @Popgun will be donating to himself ;)
On a serious note the pork butchers I go to said that the farmers will be running out of pigs soon as they only breed a certain number based on usual demand. He said loads of people who don't usually shop there have been coming in and buying masses for their freezer so I think he was soon to run out.

What Amazon have done is send me an email with what films etc have been added to Amazon Prime.

Notable amongst them is “FLU” the story (and I’m loosely quoting) of an outbreak of bird flu in Korea a pre cursor to the corona virus.

    Very sensitive that.
