1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

    Hi all,

It's been a good few years since I responded to clients requests to make something quieter than a HW silencer & the MWSS200 was born (35mm diameter x 200mm long). This model has been extremely popular :)

I then made some special units that were 230mm long & whilst quieter still, these never have really taken off ?

So I put it to fellow forum members, what are you ultimately looking for in a Silencer design these days in terms of features, performance, size, etc ?

    Cheers,

    Matt W :)

Interesting Matt ... something along the lines of a strippable Stumpy would cause my wallet to lighten

Moduler, so you can have it different lengths, to suit different guns. Most want as small as possible, as long as it effective, different guns need different levels of silencing.

I like them not to long and not to short they should be easy to strip down and a the capacity to be enlarged. I also like them to have a personality to look good I like anodised ones and say later patens on them a bit like the one DS are selling the OBD I bought think it’s called. Oh and not to heavy I have a couple of Donnyfl ones and when fitted they change the balance of a gun.

Something strong enough to use as a cocking aid on a break barrel that doesn't look out of place.

And obviously it needs to take the bark away

One that I can take off a gun and give to the wife once a month ... So it's got to be quite substantial .

    Hi Matt,
For my 95K I would look for something 35 diameter, 200 long but with recessed thread so only 100 mm projected in front of barrel. Realize this would compromise sound but happy to trade that for advantage of shorter gun and ability to cock gun without eccentric leverage on the 1/2" UNF thread. An alloy body with removable ends would also be good.

Quiet, durable, short (as in front of barrel, reflex is fine), can be opened up. I don't mind if it's 2" in diameter if it works.

For example one for a pro sport I’d want it to be blued the same as the rifle and it to be slimmer (like a hw race brake) and be recessed further down the barrel so it didn’t extend the barrel to much, I bought a silencer for my pro sport off eBay (I don’t know if it was one of yours) but it does look like one of yours I fitted it and it didn’t do much to the accuracy and did quiet it down a tad which is good but it made the rifle look to long so I took it off, if it was slimmer and recessed more and the same colour bluing you’d be onto a winner, pro sports don’t need silencing much so one for this would be more for looks

Im quite into the fat stumpy look. Is it possible to get HW quiet at half the length by increasing diameter? Or is that just not how it works?

If you take say a swift stumpy, its slim and very quiet, go a tad shorter to a belita and its much louder. Can you get quiet mods belita downwards in length?

For me I like either slim and graceful with blued appearance to suit a nice springer or carbon bling for target work.
Anything that looks home 3d printed is a non entity.

Matt, I know nothing about your silencers. Any chance of a update?
HW silencers work for me but I hate the length. Something shorter for a Regal FAC would be a good start for me. Only yesterday I almost ordered a Hugget, any suggestions or proposals?

A 5" or less length with a 25mm diameter that actually works would suit my needs as a hunter

Something that's man enough to put on a Springer carbine that won't bend when used as a cocking lever but also lightweight.
