1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

After getting into a free for all punch up on this forum I was given a twenty day ban. Now the time is up I thought I would share my thoughts about this forum but firstly what have I been doing? Ok I decided to check out some other forums such as the BSA owners one. Nice forum nice people but not a lot of activity.

I joined a Canadian forum again nice people but not a lot of activity. I joined another forum called hunting life and ended up getting my head kicked in by some chap who I was trying to help decided to take the p**s out of me and when I reacted he gave me a right verbal kicking so I didn't stay there long. The 88s forum I found ok but they are in the past with not having the forum tapatalk capable.

Have in between work commitments trying to continue my Vulcan restoration ( I will update my thread shortly ) I have decided not to get involved in political discussions on here again as they always end up in a punch up and I wouldn't be bothered if such discussions were banned by the mods. I mean you don't go to the range and start arguing about politics and end up smashing your neighbour over the head with your gun do you? So why do it here?

I have to say I have had time to reflect and this is definitely the best forum there is. Yes it's sometimes a dictatorship in some ways the mods behave but if you don't like it you know where the door is.

What I'm trying to say guys n gals is I've missed you all yes even my old sparring partner Barcelona ( heard he got a bit of porridge too). So here's to a fresh start, glad to be back.

Oh and as for the guy that gave me the roasting on the HL forum, I'm gonna visit that forum one more time and give him a right verbal b*****k kicking and then I'll leg it cos I ain't bothered about being kicked off that forum! Agf is the best.

Welcome back mate, most people often are much nicer in real life than they come across on forums, it's the nature of the emotionless and body language void beast that often gets people misinterpreted...

I bet even Barc has a nice side to him in real life! :p Maybe we should tease it out of him.

What did you do? Barc is a seasoned con on here, he just takes it up the bum and gets on with prison life (I've heard).

This is a great forum, but as you've said, it's a dictatorship, but that's not a negative slant, the rules are rules, no democracy, funnily it's works in a virtual community.

    Welcome back.

On the note of political stances, how do you feel about UKIP getting some EU seats?

Yeah I heard barc screaming every night in his cell so now I know why, to the person that asked what did he do well it all stemmed from that very same punch up I got jailed for, he went running to the rozzers with a bloody nose the stool pigeon him and when I was put in shackles it was a case of naa na na naa naa! And so he got shackled for affray. Please mods this isn't a dig at him it's a bit of light hearted banter I would like to think we are big enough to shake hands and forget the whole matter, what do you say barc ? Friends?

I'd be worried that Barc is now a 'mungler', be wary.

Nice to have you back Meteror62 for a bit more 'intelligent' ;) debate!
Hm, You have now learned that there are some who take a delight in taking offence on matters others have a different opinion to.....those are the ones who believe that they are always right. You, like many of the rest of us are merely trying to make a personal point and did not intend it to be anything else. Then along comes a twerp with a weird sense of self importance (I DO NOT MEAN THE ADMIN TEAM who do a fine job) who twists it and slowly it raises the frustration until it eventually leads to blow ups.
Been there, done that but have not yet been 'jailed' I think because I do try to be fair in how I respond to the problem. Most times the opposition has misread my post and/or twisted its meaning/context for their own satisfaction/purpose. Keep cool and never respond in haste, count to ten and then make sure the post reads exactly as you mean it to before you post it so there can be no confusion.
 Is revisiting the HL forum a good move? That would drop you down to their level of behaviour.....give it a miss and laugh at them. What would the world be like if everyone was right all of the time? Where would we go....the ones who are never right? That is a deep thought
Incidentally.....did you try the Chinese gun forum........mine was not a pleasant experience due to the schoolmarms on there and I soon binned it, never regretted it either cos this one beats it hands down in every section.

Temp bans are a good solution for forums. Some people are prone to get 4r53y about certain subjects, or perhaps if they were drinking before posting...

Didn't try the Chinese forums as my mandarin is a little rusty seriously though no I don't have any Chinese guns so didn't bother. I learned also that yes there are 'owners group' type forums for various makes of guns but there is little activity and if I wanted a question answering then I'm more likely to find the answer here on agf and in quick time too. If I ask a question and it don't get answered it was probably a dumb question anyway.

Yes I agree count to ten before posting as many has been the time I've fired from the hip causing all sorts of collateral damage and regretting it as soon as I fired the post off.
