Does anyone here know if the new AGS Webley's are any good?

Even better - does anyone actually own one as I'm desperate to find out.

Just ordered a new Longbow in .22 and there are very mixed opinions about Webley - nobody can agree on whether they're good or not, and nobody knows where they're made now ...

    Thanks.

    Webley.

Made in Turkey and assembled in Britain . Was there any particular reason you chose Webley or was it their name and reputation? There seems to be a lot of badge engineering going on generally now. What about a Chinese MG car?

Just went for them because they're Webley.

Excellent news - just had an offer from Blackpool Airguns and they're out of stock with the new Longbow's so they've offered me an origonal British one back from the days.

It's been used as a display model but is in good condition ... so I'm told ... so I'm very pleased.

I might add that additional reasons for choosing the Webley Longbow can be found at http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews4793.html

    Happy shooting.

    Longbow

That sounds a good buy. The Longbow was supposed to be really nice.

I didn't like my xocet much.

    What was wrong with it?

I don't think anyone likes them very much ... judging from the reviews I've seen they're very average.

    RE. exocet.

My exocet had a very nasty recoil. After more than 2000 shots I couldn't use it because of teeth ache!

    Information.

The Webley bit came from "What Airgun" buyers guide 2007. and the bit about Chinese MGs was on telly news a few days ago. Is that what you doubted? What point would there be in anyone making things like that up?

Here's an extract from webley's site

Tackle and Gun Interview with Jeff Cooper, Managing Director

T&G: It is no secret that you have taken production of your airguns to Turkey. How’s that going?

JC: Very well, actually. Turkey is extremely keen to learn off us, especially on the pre-charged side of things. Tony Hall and Paul Garrity have been working with them in the development of the Raider 10.
We decided not to go down the China route, preferring to keep the manufacturing base as (broadly) European as we can. We are aiming to be as cost-effective as possible but still offer the quality that Webley is renowned for, using British understanding and design skills.

Nothing bothering me mate your the one who sounds rattled.
Just one question where does it say made in Turkey assembled in England??
It's common knowledge about Turkey just I have not heard that they ship parts back to England.
Sounds like an expensive way to make a rifle.
As far as I know ALL the spring guns come from Turkey.
And the early Raider 10's that are being sold now are just old stock from before they went bust.
So no rifles assembled in England.

    Webley.

I really don't know why I'm bothering but Webley Ltd.say, the xocet, xocetXS and Longbow are back in the mechanical camp as is the Raider 10. These rifles are now being manufactured abroad (Turkey) but assembled in the UK.
Do you need a holiday Murphy?
