1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

Advice Webley Nemesis .177 repair - any suggestions on where to take it? (Bristol area)

Hi there, I'm new here so apologies if this sort of thing gets asked all the time! I did do a quick search...

I'm looking for a reputable workshop/shop to take a look at my Webley Nemesis .177 pistol, preferably in the Bristol / Gloucestershire / Somerset area - to give it a once over and replace the air seals as necessary. Online searching hasn't thrown up anything that looks any good particularly close to me and one place I emailed didn't bother to reply, so I need some personal recommendations.

All my air guns were given to me by my Mother before she died, but living in Bristol I've never had anywhere to use them safely so they've been stored away for a good few years. Now having access to some private (bunny infested) land at my wife's parent's place in Gloucestershire, I've dug them out. Having looked into it, my pistols are made in England (and possibly the Longbow too, but more on that another day) whereas nowadays Webley has apparently gone all far east (or Turkey at least) so being a novice, I'm fairly certain I have some half decent kit.

Unfortunately I remember my Mum saying that the seals on the Nemesis were knackered. How or why I don't remember, but she has written on the box it came in "Replacement air seals required".

I'm fairly sure I can buy seal kits myself, but I don't know which seals need replacing or how to go about it without springs flying across the room that I can't get back into position. I am fairly DIY savvy (I make guitars for a living) but I'm no air weapon expert so would rather leave it to someone who is. It probably couldn't hurt to give the other two a once over as well although visually they seem to be in great nick.

    Any recommendations? Cheers

So a little while ago I took it to Mark Hazel's Gun Room in Wotton-under-Edge (thanks Robhalex) and he took a look at it, fired it and told me it was fine! So I bought a case and went away a happy chappy.

Finally got out to the in-laws sizeable garden to do some quick plinking to try it out and the first thing I noticed was that the pellet felt tight as I tried to load it. I checked that it wasn't an odd .22 round in the tin, and eventually put it down to the Twin Ring design perhaps being a bit tighter than the Lazerdomes I have. (I hadn't brought those with me annoyingly).

So I pressed it home and cocked it, and phut. It didn't fire. The pellet was exactly where I left it. I couldn't dig it out with anything I had so simply recocked it and tried again, and it fired leaving a neat hole in my target.

Tried a few more rounds with no problems then got another "sticker" which again cleared on the second try. Another few rounds again with no problems and that was all I had time for.

The gun is immaculate and I'm sure that I'm the first person to have successfully fired some pellets through it. So is this just a combination of 'new' gun and some tight pellets or is it still poorly after all? Are these false shots damaging the seals?

you could try some different pellets, you can get them in different head sizes..maybe ask the guy in the shop he might be able to sort you some of the pellets you like with a different head size...there should be a sticker on the back of the tin normally with a series of numbers one of those numbers will be the size
