1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

I only water the new plants in my garden and use the grey water from my washing up bowl, not the greasy food particle laden stuff but the rinse water and hand washing sort.
It then goes into a couple of buckets by the back door ready for root watering (rather than general soaking) even so even established plants are getting scorched and stressed by this weather. My three bird baths get clean water last thing at night and top ups during the day
the small pond and pumped feed give small mammals and birds a bathing place.
The pond and water have brought in over the years; Pheasant, Peacock, Partridge, Sparrow Hawk, Tawny Owls, Redstarts, Feildfares, Foxes and loads of small birds even a couple of grass snakes. not bad for a small garden between two main roads!

I am unashamedly NOT saving water.

I’m not on a meter and I have one of those cool sprinklers that goes tu-tu-tu-tu-tu-tu-tu-tuh as it pulses round all evening.

My lawn has never been greener.

I don’t understand the mentality of saving water that some other b****r is selling you. If I go to the shop for a mars bar and they are out of stock it’s not my fault for eating them already, it’s down to the idiot shop-keeper to get more in.

No, I’m not saving it. We’re on a meter, but it’s about £2 for 1000 litres, so I just use it as if it’s free.

Don't water any plants or grass as I upgraded to plastic grass and plants a few years ago thereby saving water and effort in the up keep ... very worthwhile investment I must say. Water in the house from taps, baths, shower and toilets etc is on a meter so not sure what else we can do.

Looks pristine 24/7 365 days a year with a little brush down once in a while ... being a hayfever sufferer this is the perfect garden for me.

Mate, that will soon add up. Your hose might spit out £1.50 - £2 of water an hour with a sprinkler. You run a sprinkler a couple of hours a night and you might do £100 in water extra a month.

My advice is connect your hose to a neighbour’s tap while they are either out for the day or fast asleep at night

I use a water butt that collects of the shed guttering, though the lack rain recently ive had to fill it with tap water and leave it to settle and the chlorine to off gas.

Im on a water meter now, as im a low water user im close to paying 5 times less.

We used to have a tap in the garden for a hose, but the pipe work was in the loft and my missus’ son broke the pipe and flooded the house, so we make do with a watering can.

I used to use water from our tropical fish tank to water the plants when it came to a water change. That was until I realised our tap water was higher in nitrates than the old aquarium water...

Nope we are not saving it, I cant see how as an island with all the rainfall we get, that we can run out. Its the powers that be not collecting/storing right & letting water leaks in the road etc carry on flowing for many months before the do anything. There was a flood from a burst main near us that flooded a road junction so long that people honestly put rubber ducks & stuff in & around it to make it a water feature (trying to shame the water board into repairing it).

You go to places like tenerife etc, where they have very little rainfall, & they have hoses plumbed in everywhere that come on at certain times of the day to water all the plants & trees. If they dont run out of water, then how the hell do we?

Tenerifes water is captured by the pine trees from dew and collects in underground aquifers.

It's apple juice really, I dilute it 50/50 with bottled water, way too strong for me from the carton.

We are on max water restrictions here so all grey water other than sink washup is recycled.
What worries me is that my wife from all the carting around of water picks up a 15l bucket
with one hand (33lbs in weight) no need to go to the gym.
Also the pool has been converted to a rain water container

My water butt ran out a while ago need to plumb another one in I think, im using a little water each night to keep the plants going and stop the grass from becoming tinder. I swear I walked across some grass the other day that was so dry if I had scuffed my feet I could have ignited it.

I pay for it, so I'm using it. If we all start rationing ourselves any time it gets hot then it just minimises the pressure placed on water companies to sort their act out. No point fixing all those leaky pipes if we don't create a demand for the wasted water.
