1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

Hi bit a of a long shot but has anyone got a rear sight for an Original mod 50 rifle? Unsure when it was built as the serial number makes no sense in terms of a date of manufacturer but suspect its mid 70's before the T01. I have done a bit of searching but have only managed to find some plastic replacements that look very cheap on a German supplier website. Any help gratefully received.

The rear sight I have was taken off a Original 45 and they look like a standard fit, if looking on Chambers web site,

but because of those raised dimples, I can't say whether the rear sight I've got will fit or not ?

I think there a few types of the Diana/original 50 rear sights depending on the era and model ect and from what I've researched some other model of rifles will fit the original 50 such as the 45's.The one on chambers you mentioned is exactly the same as the type I have seen on the German website and for the same kind of money. I think these are a cheap Chinese copy or "upgrade" as Chambers describe them. Not sure they are quite worth the £36 asking price plus postage. I would be willing to take a gamble if you are selling yours JD?

Are there any small numbers on the left side at the back very close to the stock inlet. It looks late 70's early 80's age.

I wouldn't bother with that cheap copy thats offered for £36 ( have you tryed Protek ) but if you look at the original rear sight OSO38 the one thats now obsolete, both the 45 and 50 seem to be fitted with the same model of rear sight, as there both sharing the same order code of OSO38.

I'm open to offers of Hw spares for swaps.

Will load some pics tomorrow of a set of sights recently taken off an original, (not sure if they will fit yours sniper 11), the front sight looks pretty unique (and very well made) it has an indexing wheel that rotates different shaped front sights (never seen anything like it!)

The numbers are on the barrel on this rifle 149127 so unsure of the year but agree with you that I thinks its late 70's or a very early 80's.

I would like to keep it looking as original (no pun intended:)) as possible and think its worth waiting until the correct sights come my way from what ever source. Protek from my memory did have some but again unsure if these would fit or are a copy of some description but I think its worth giving them a call. Thanks.

Here is the pic as promised, the sights are working, they are extremely well made, the rear of the back sight has a reversible element, which leads me to believe they may have been off a rifle used for target work. They will need some renovation (they look worse than what they are, thne bluing is fully recoverable) there is also an adjuster wheel missing which could be easily made. No worries if they are not for you, as they will be going on the bay later :)
