1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

Money doesn't come into it, the fact no country with nuclear weapons have been in conflict since proclaims how effective they are as a deterrent. That's got to be worth every penny?

How many 'suitcase' nukes have been lost by the Russian government over the years? I heard a rumour over a hundred but I don't know for sure.

That's a scary prospect if they fall into the wrong hands. (almost certain some wrong hands somewhere have one)

I watched a documentary about Chernobyl last year. A British guy was walking around with a geiger counter in the town taking measurements. That place is :censored: and will be :censored: for a long time. The fish in the rivers and wildlife seem to have recovered because the heavy elements have sank into river beds and washed away with rain and snow. That's not the problem, the problem was inside the buildings in the town where fallout had blown in, the readings were off the meter and the guy said the half life was something silly like 1000's of years.

Can't recall off hand, he wasn't in the power plant, he was walking around the deserted town and entering random buildings to take readings. He took readings in river water which was ok until you disturbed the river bed then all kinds of nasty things emerged with high readings. If they dropped the big H bombs on us, we'd be gonners for sure with all that fallout and contamination.

Only if you live in one of the 106 target areas. Some don't.

The boots and clothing of the first fire fighters on the scene are in the basement of Pripyat hospital where they were removed from them. Still to radioactive to approach.

It is going to depend which way the wind is blowing if we get attacked and the air pressure and weather conditions at the time. In low pressure, fallout drops rapidly and if the wind is in your direction then you're basically screwed. If fallout gets into our resevoir systems and rivers in a bad way, were all screwed.

That's why I said head for the coastal areas. You can drink sea water following these steps. http://www.wikihow.com/Turn-Salt-Water-Into-Drinking-Water

If the rivers get seriously contaminated with large amounts of fallout then you have to remember the rivers flow out to sea and the coastal areas would get it too at the river delta's. Not to mention fallout on the beaches if the wind blows in that direction. If we were attacked in a sustained way with a lot of warheads, because we are an island and cannot escape the confines of the attack, many of us would die instantly because the warheads these days are 100's of time more powerfull that the one's dropped on Japan. 12 Kiloton which is the equivalent 12,000 tons of TNT was dropped on Japanese cities, these days they range from 500 Kiloton to 10 megaton which is equivalent to 10 million tons of TNT. The fallout would be brutal and if they hit us with hundred 1 megaton warheads these islands and everything on it would be turned to glass instantly. The bear shaggers once tested a 50 megaton device which is 50 million tons of TNT, it was called the Tzar bomb. If that single bomb landed here then its game set and the match, take your ball home, good night Eileen, Asta la Vista baby.

From what I've read before about DIA, it seems like more of an underground city than a bunker & the artwork in the public areas is really creepy. Then there are the references on a plaque to the New World Order & what's with that freaky black horse with glowing red eyes ? That thing fell on it's sculptor & killed him . It must be one of the strangest places on the planet. I wonder what it's like inside Area 51 ?

There are companies that will take you on a tour of the town near Chernobyl now but I don't think you can stay there more than about 20 minutes. Might be a good venue for the next AGF meet ? :)

The best place to be if it all kicks off and you're not committed to terminating yourself... is at Sea, with enough food and provisions AND WEAPONRY to get you to a 3rd World Country or the South Pacific.

Step 1 - Nick a decent sized boat
    Step 2 - Drive
    Step 3 - sing shanties

I've often wondered if all those preppers know what they are letting themselves in for. Buying a shelter and having it buried in their back yard and having to live in it for months or even years? I'd go crackers in it. You'd be better off like others have mentioned, getting a boat and taking off to a secluded island such as the channel islands, shetland or a greek island, still might get fallout raining down but it least those places won't be glass.
