1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

If it's the Halal/Kosher/ritual slaughter of animals thread then that's been moved to the adult's section.

Why can't you keep the topics where they were?

Saves a lot off hassle and members asking and opening threads about it.

I'm so sick and tired ofthose petronizing rules in this country.....

If threads are of a sensitive nature they get moved to the adults only section. Andy's house, Andy's rules.

I really don't see a problem. Once you obtain and enter the Adult section P/W then it's always there as long as you don't log out. Then when you enter the General section you can automatically see if there are any new threads/post in Adult section...
    It's just common sense.

It's not as if it's hard to PM a mod for the password. I found quite a few interesting threads there last I checked. Just moved cos they are likely to upset the Anti's and Mary Whitehouse brigade. Seems sensible to me.

If you want uncensored websites try Reddit or 4 Chan. Some of the stuff there will make your eyes water, putting it mildly.

Nae bother, we'll get on it after a good night's kip.

The general forum needs to be age appropriate and accessible to all airgunners - young and old and of all sensibilities. In order to achieve this we feel it's best to keep things of an airgun nature as the focus of the forum and more in the public eye than some of the threads that are in the adult section because, quite frankly, the stuff in the adult section has absolutely hee-haw to do with the sport and the reason for the forum - it's a seldom used area that has only recently been more widely exposed.

I'm not Peter PC and neither are any of the other mods but of late there's more threads that seem to cause extreme polarity of opinion (argy-bargy to put it more plainly) amongst forum members than others so the moderating/admin team have made the decision to move threads that could cause bother into the adult area rather than jump on them. I'm not talking R10 v's HW100 stuff, that can stay in the general forum for as long as it likes providing it's constructive and doesn't cause any of its usual patter. I believe subjects like religion and politics - the prime culprits when it comes to punch-up threads - should be kept off the general forum and discussed where people's personal opinions are viewable only by forum members (that are over 18, have asked for and been given the appropriate access to it) instead of being visible to the whole world. The BB-S has an identical section (although non-passworded) and nobody bats an eyelid.

What I'm suggesting we take into consideration is this - and if you already know about this then forgive me - all entries on the forum (with the exception of certain areas like the Adult and Admin sections) are visible via a Google search. Some of the threads/posts in the adult section aren't what I would like to be shown bearing Airgunforum's hyperlink on a Google search: airguns and all things related to airguns - fine, no beef here, click that Airgunforum.co.uk and prepare to be dazzled. What I'd like to try and avoid is people clicking a link to the forum and they then find themselves in the middle of a thread that's a punch-up which has nothing to do with airguns. To me this could negatively influence someone's impression of airguns (like they need more bad press), the members of the forum (like airgunners need more bad press) and the sport/pastime/Call It Anything in general.
