1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

As the title says^ a friend of mine just got him self a brand new theoben fen for a super bargain but the one thing its missing is the scope mounts and given they are a bolt on type they are apparently hard to find? He has tried all the local RFD but had no joy... So I'm curious if any one knows where he can buy some from or does any one have some for sale maybe?

Also one other question, is it possible to say buy a dove tail rail and just drill some holes in to match the guns screw holes then use regular scope mounts?

    Thanks in advanced :)

There are plenty on the Internet, try placing a wanted ad if you don't want to pay the new price.

I'd also suggest he hires out his time machine for £50 a go if you can go back and buy brand new guns that were discontinued 15 years ago!

    Bagsy first go!

Cheers for the advice I'll run it by my friend and stick a wanted add up.

The guns was acquired from a old chap that bought it brand new to kill a rabbit that was in his allotment, he shot it and had no bother after that so the gun was of no use to him to which he cleaned down n packed it away safe until my bud mentiond he shoots then the old chap mentiond he has a old rifle packed away, so to cut a long story short my mates ended up with a Theo fen all as new in the box/packet & the purchase receipt it originally come with not a mark or tarnish on it and still shooting perfectly and accurate! But on a down side no scope mounts...

Ebay often has them, but not often high ones.

I think I have a set somewhere in one of my boxes of air rifle bits.

Scratch that - I don't think I have, I know I have, but I don't know which box of bits they might be in...

What price would you sell them for? If you did find them?

If I can find them you can have them if you cover the postage.

    If I can find them...

I wouldn't mind knowing why a used-once, as-new, still in box Fenman has no mounts though.

Something's not right - you don't go ripping mounts off a new gun for no reason.

We could do it the other way - you could give me the gun to match to my mounts ;)

    :)

Original, Theoben mounts can be had in 25mm or 30mm. I suggest sticking with the 25mm size and standard height will happily take a 50mm, just!

That would be awesome! He only paid 80 for the gun so can't complain about not having the mounts to match.

If you're in a hurry I'd suggest scanning the classifieds or eBay

I'm away this weekend so I won't even be able to start rummaging until early next week and they could be in the workshop, shed, garage, attic, etc.

What I did for a mate of mine is take a standard mount, tighten up the fasteners, mill the bottom flat and drill down through them and find two suitable bolts. He's had them on his gun for years and they've never budged.

If you can't find the right bits you can easily rework others to fit if you think outside the box a little.

Standard 'Rapid' mounts will fit but you may have trouble with it breaking scopes. I believe they came with the 'Dampa' mount as standard which is the best option. I had the same trouble when I bought my Eliminator second hand & hats off to Theoben, they sourced a set from Sportsmatch who made their mounts at the time, who just happened to have a few sets left kicking about in the factory. You need to measure the distance between the mounting holes though as two types were made, early models & later.

    John:)
