1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

I stumbled across this site last night - I seem to remember seeing it some time ago when it had very few entries; but it's really grown nicely since then :)

The site allows you to input the details of your HW springer along with the date of manufacture (if actually known). From these it extrapolates the DOM of guns whose build date isn't known.

I put in some details last night to discover (amongst other things) that I have the earliest HW80 listed on there, which was nice :p

The site does offer stats but it currently doesn't really go as deep as I'd like - there's the proportion of guns listed by type, country etc, but nothing really juicy like the number of a particular model listed by year, calibre etc.. it would be interesting to see some numbers because, for example, anecdotally every HW35E ever made seems to have been manufactured in 1980 - it would be good to see if the numbers support this..

Anyway; a nicely-executed site that's well worth visting / contributing to in preference to the dodgy old serial / age list that's been cut and pasted to the forums for years :p

Yeah I came across that database a couple of months ago.... I've added my HW97's to the list.
I actually told a couple of guy's about it, they both went to the site and looked for their guns serial numbers - then got back to me and said that their guns weren't recorded there. The clowns didn't realise that they could add them!!

    Hi cloverleaf!

Thank you for promoting my site and pointing out a good point, the site needs....or needed...more stats :)
I have put some time into it and added some more statistics, please have a look and see if this is what you like to see.
If not, by all means, tell me what data you would like to see and I will try to make it happen.

    Kind regards,

    Chris

    Hi custard,
When I put in the data, it returns "Your Weihrauch product was probably manufactured in 2011 - 2012."

    Regards,
    Chris

It seems te serial number you have provided me through the mail isn't yet registered.
I tried registering it with fake data, worked out fine.
Maybe you've emailed me the wrong serial number.
If not, email me with the data you wish to register your product.

    Regards,
    Chris

    Hi Chris,

No problem - it's a nice site; thanks for creating it!

Thanks also for getting in touch with regard to the stats; the updated ones certainly add a lot more information :)

I think it would be good to sort the quantity of guns by individual year; although since the age of most is estimated within a range this would probably be unfeasible.. I suppose there are endless possibilities as to how you might process the data.

I'll certainly keep an eye on the site as it's an interesting and useful resource. Some of the photos look quite familiar, too :p

I've added a Quantity Per Year chart and table to the stats page :)
And, some of the photo's look familiar? Those I took myself, except for one :)

Just added my 99S to the database and looked at the statistics section. What struck me most was the data on calibres submitted as follows:
    .177 317
    .22 122
    .20 9
    .25 2
    Unknown 355 !
Makes you wonder how some folk manage to buy the correct pellets ;)
Seriously though, I was surprised at the ratio of .177's to .22's.

Cool - looks good and contains some decent information :)

The HW99s looks somewhat familiar to me
, as did the shot of the muzzle / foresight assy - although admittedly one HW foresight assy shot on a white background looks much like another so I might be mistaken on this one :p

Not that I have a problem with any of my images being put to good use..

First of all, thank you all for registering your products in the database.!

When I started the database, I merged two or three existing lists from different forums around the world.
While I was merging them, I thought of what data I would find relevant. So I decided that I wouldn't record the serialnumbers that weren't connected to any model and that after the merge, the caliber would be a required input field. Just like the date of purchase (at least the year). So when I went live, there were that many products without a known caliber, that's the story :)

Having said that, your post gave me an idea, and that is to make a chart, describing the caliber purchases throughout the years.
So that's up there with the rest of the stats now.
