1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

My ., some of you boys get a proper stiffy on for a modded Ratty, and to be honest I can understand the appeal of being able to put your own stamp on a gun.

Don't own one myself, but loving the modifications I've seen on here.

Some top work to transform a basic model into something very special, but at what cost?

    Bundles I'm guessing.

What's the problem, scared your old woman's going to find out how much you've spent modding your guns!

Didn't realise I'd joined a Gay air gunning forum!

What's wrong with gay air gunners?

I discuss everything I buy regarding my hobby with my Mrs and she's fine with it, so long as the kids are sorted and the bills are paid first there have been no issues.... until I buy a Crosman!

Nowt wrong with gay air gunners at all Steve, never been out shooting with one myself, but would imagine it's going to get mighty complicated when they spy a field full of Bunnies through a rifle scope, and you're just about to drop one!

Got into a bit of bother a couple of years back renewing my love for shooting when I brought my first PCP with her savings.

Although I repaid her in full, was blanked for a couple of weeks, but that's life mate.

Thing is someone wants a particular Fly rod off me in trade for a Ratty, but I've got a feeling it will end in tears. Lol

I like them a lot, would love a fully tricked out 2250XL running HPA due to the light weight design but I know it will end in me spending way too much on it, I sometimes have issues with demons regarding buying upgrades for stuff and am trying to learn where to draw the line! Particularly vulnerable to it at the moment and am resisting well!

Happy watching others with Crosmanitis emptying their wallets at the moment! :D

I caught crosmanitis a month or two ago but have had loads of jobs to do in the house to keep the boss sweet before I can get more mods . Up to now I have fitted a gmac steel breech, up next is a new barrel with 1/2" unf thread and silencer followed by a bulk fill conversion ! Problem is when she finds out how much these mods r costing me im probably going to have to cough up for yet another pair of shoes or a new dress to keep her sweet lol.

That old worry that if you die and the mrs sells your stuff for the prices you told her you paid for them... Someone's going to get a lot of bargains from my toys.

I told my mrs to keep the rifles for my son that seemed the best option to hide the price, the push bikes I'd be worried about, and the motorbike, well she'd hang me for what I paid for that.

We were in tesco today and she was going to buy a DVD for £12, I said "that's a rip off and remember that the next time you winge at me for buying something", she said "that's nothing compared to the two to three hundred pound you're going to spend on one of the W100 thingies (HW100)", I felt this was a time to leave that subject alone... "Put it in the basket" I said.

    if only she knew...

Can't bring myself to part with the fly rod. Spent far too long restoring it to let it go.

Must be the same for some of you guys and your Ratty's no doubt.

The boy would never let his mam sell his favourite gun so the ratty would be the only gun that wouldnt be sold if anything was to happen to me!

It's all about being astute with the buying. I buy most of my parts and guns from USA.

Another trick is to buy an already modded gun, take the parts you want and sell the rest. Over time you accumulate loads of standard parts, in fact I have 5 standard 2240s sitting here now that were all left over.

Yes if you pay full tilt for everything it is quite easy to spend £250-£300 on a ratty and I have a had a few with rare or bespoke parts that cost £500+. It will cost you that much for a HW45 or an Alecto which are indeed fine guns but aren't quite as easy to personalise. But you can make a natty little pistol easily sub £160 with steel/brass hardware and nice wooden grips. Gun £80 new, Breech kit £50 new, Grips £30 new. Even cheaper to do if you buy used parts.

Also my latest method is contacting hobby or one man band machinists who can make you some truly magnificent parts at not a lot of money.

Money well spent in my eyes but I am a tinkerer and collector only, if I was a serious hunter or target shooter I may have a different view.

I have two palm nipping (1300 series) Crosman pistols that I have not been tempted to alter in any way. They are 1980s guns, the old twist and slide not bolt breech!

Edited to add: I forgot the 357 as well!

Every King Rat I have had has leaked when I got it. Doesn't lend itself to being stripped down all the time. Not a build quality issue it's an owner issue. Bite the bullet, reseal it and you have a top gun.

Not a ratty but I always fancied a Backpacker, am I right in saying thats the pump up one? My thinking was that it wouldnt be temperature sensitive and with a ratty if you run out of co2 bulbs you cant use the thing. Having said that I suppose the key there is buying enough co2 so that you dont run out :D anyone got a backpacker?
