1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

Me Tan, being ill means I have watched most matches. Chile impressed me and fortunately I have them in the works sweepstake. I hope I am well enough to go in and collect my winnings sometime :)

Chile did very well, but most-impressive so far (for me) has been Germany, followed by the Netherlands. Brazil have been average. Really looking forward to the England game, too -- the pressure is on!

P.S. Get well soon, Big Mike.

    P.P.S. What do you win?

That's 5,350 rupees in Pakistan. You could live it up like P. Diddy for the day.

I am the same being as i am on the sick, watched almost every game. Best by far for me is Netherlands, Chile and then Germany, only have Germany last of the three due to only playing one match so far.

Of the teams who could win... Argentina, Germany and Netherlands.
Outsiders to watch out for... Chile and Belgium
Interesting teams which may cause upsets: Columbia, Mexico and Bosnia

Notice I haven't mentioned the hosts... I don't think they will get past the QFs as they are a one man team. Take Neymar out and there is nothing.

As for tonight... This is difficult. I gave up on England a few years back. Didn't like the way they played and didn't like the players. Too staid and too many under performing players. However the new younger players have been a breath of fresh air - still room for a lot of improvement... like getting a right back than can actually defend would be a start.

With some hope: England 2 Uruguay 1
Probably score: England 1 Uruguay 1
If Rooney plays: England 0 Uruguay 2

I agree, with the new younger players England have come on leaps and bounds but as you say, still room for improvement. Hopefully we play as well as we did against Italy and learn from our mistakes. Im going for 2-0 England!

    2-1 uraguay ;)
seriously tho, the england management and coaching structure is all wrong - they need to be trying out the young players in the meaningless friendlies, so that when the games that matter come round, the youngsters have some international experience and the team is potentially taking shape. the current team has too many players that lack much experience at the top level, and too many players who are complacent and are being picked due to their past glories

Not a bad guess that. I should be a gambler.

As to the coaching structure from the above post.... the problem goes far deeper than the England set up. Back in 1990 English clubs weren't even allowed to play in Europe and there were barely any foreigners in the Premiership... and we nearly got to the Final. Since then its been downhill.

The Premiership was supposed to support the National side. It has failed and should be completely restructured:

    1. TV money to be shared throughout the whole Football League. This will make clubs cut their cloth accordingly rather than this massive spending.
    2. No parachute payments. The reason clubs go into admin almost as soon as they are relegated from the Premiership is because there is simply too much money paid to the clubs based on the level they play at and not the achievement. Look how much Cardiff got paid for getting relegated.
    3. Academies to be limited to a set number of players - at the moment, Premiership teams vacuum up all the local talent and they get to 20 years old with virtually no playing experience at professional level mainly because they aren't foreign. The players are then discarded and find a club lower down the league and often drift out of the game. Limiting the academy number will mean that some young players will have to go to lower league clubs and work their way through. This will support lower leagues and make the whole of English football stronger.

In past times, young players were given time in the first team to play and make mistakes. Now you play a couple of good games and you're an England international. Kevin Keegan once said the England manager of the future would be picking from the Championship... looking at some of the players on show last night I believe a team made up of Championship players would not have done worse.

There is a lot wrong with English football, not helped by an FA which has consistently had a hands off approach to the game. Their projects are often half arsed affairs: Wembley stadium costing a £1bn? and the more ridiculous "Kick racism out of football" ... unless you're a star player and then you don't. They need to TELL the Premiership what is going to happen.

Sorry, but I have a complete abhorence as to what the FA have done to English football over the last 20 years.

Was a poor game . So sad to see another World Cup come to nothing. Miracles might happen and we go through but I won't hold my breath for that.

If you look at the good teams this tournament you can see they play a pressing game. They chase and close down quickly and leave no time on the ball. Spain were hounded out in both games but what do we do ? Yep we give teams time on the ball !

Oh well I got USA in my works sweep so guess I will cheer them for a while lol
