1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

Even if this is just your own personal opinion, RESPECT YOUR FELLOW MEMBERS.'

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

I’m quite happy knowing if some skank nicked my card they couldn’t buy a fancy pair of trainers on it with a £30 limit

Barclaycard did a little stamp-size sticky bit of plastic that you put on the back of your phone meaning you only needed to put your keys and phone in your pockets and didn't even need to take your wallet/cards with you.

I thought that was a good idea until I left my phone on the counter of a newsagents and didn't realise till I'd got back to the pub when I quickly shat myself and sprinted back to the shop for the shop owner to point out the tramp in the street who had just taken it from the counter - I got my phone back before any damage was done and swiftly removed the sticky and have gone back to cash wherever I can which is most places I go.

If it was up to me we would go back to cash and cheques only, but then I'm a miserable old git.

I do feel for folk who are so stressed out and who's lives are so busy they consider 30/40 seconds is a waste. I see them all wound up like a spring just looking for an excuse to explode. Some of them even have guns!
    Chill you will live longer

They should add a checkout labelled "time wasting idiots and self important tw*ts" .
Being stuck behind someone who has any and all issues including trying to find payment card even after waiting with their purchases on the conveyor belt belt due to the previous moron then asking to change an item "the tin is dented!" and spends ages re-sorting bags into the trolley rather than load the belt in a way to make life easier when packing....then they stand, trolley across the exit way checking the receipt blocking all twenty checkout point users exit......

This is why Suzy shops alone while I drink beer.....

Not so, have been using Tesco for at least the past year now and can count on one hand the number of subs I have had and they have all been fine. I was always Sainsburys, have used Asda, Waitrose and Iceland and for value and having what you order Tesco do win in this neck of the woods.

Something people may not know is that the use by or best before dates that are delivered are better than you can pick in store, the short life stuff is at the front in store, the longer dates at the back of the shelf and the newly delivered stuff not on display, it's not in their interest to short you as they want us to do online - when you try it you will wonder why you bother with the time and expense and bother of doing your own shopping when someone will bring it to you and you can catch more offers online than you can in store. That said my next booze delivery will be coming from Asda for the offers on atm.

I was once asked when queuing up in M&S by a snooty manager type if I'd like to use self service. I asked her if it was going to be cheaper as I was doing it myself. She just stropped off !

"SteveO, post: 2554444, member: 26005"]I prefer to write them a cheque James but often find out to my dismay that the cashier has never seen or heard of one before let alone accept them as a form of payment.

But bear in mind that the shop does not have to accept them. They may be legal tender but if you wanted to pay for £30 worth of goods in pennies the shop has every legal right to refuse irrespective of whether they all in one bag or bagged up in bags containing £1 worth in each bag. That is fact not supposition Steve.

I don't do contactless after a friend had money taken from her account at a gun show, twice, while the card was in her purse.

The hassle I had from the bank when I asked for a new card without the contactless bit, they almost had a meltdown.

Cheques still commonly used in French supermarkets and petrol stations. Try getting all huffy in one of them and see where it gets you.
