1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

(Sorted) Testing the water - VMach HW77 for a smaller, lighter springer (plus cash maybe)

I'm just testing the water here, but I'm thinking of a swap for my HW77.

My daughter was born last July and finances are tight, as are my chances to go out shooting (in fact, due to my other responsibilities I haven't gone out since June last year - I have given up my permission, sadly, but still want to own a nice rifle to keep involved with the possibility of getting out at some point in the future).Anyway, as I say I'm testing the water so no promises - I'd like to see if something catches my eye (ideally local to me).

    WHAT I'D LIKE:

I'm honestly not sure! A good quality lighter hunting rifle, chrono'd at under 12ftlb, but accurate and powerful enough to hunt with. I would like a springer as obviously it may have to sit unused for ages; but I want it to be able to "get up and go."I will consider a cheaper rifle plus cash offer.

Also, I'm a bit of a midget so I'd like something smaller and lighter than the HW77.

    WHAT I HAVE:

So - I'd like to know if anyone is interested in the following:Mk1 Weihrauch HW77, dated mid-80s, in .22.Venom tuned by Lyn Lewington (Venoman) when I first bought it. It's a pre-anti beartrap model, though I do have one which can be fitted if required. It has an HW97 stock fitted at the moment but also has a standard "sporter" '77 stock as backup.

Neither stock is in perfect condition, some marks and dings but perfectly servicable (the '97 is the better of the two, I have photos of the marks/damage to follow). On top is a BSA Essential 3-9x40 scope, again not in mint condition (a few scrapes on the caps on the adjuster turrets from the Cree torch I attach for rat bashing) but certainly decent condition, with a flip up "Accucover". Also a 4x32 SMK (I think) scope. The BSA scope can be included or not, depending on what is on offer in return and what agreement is made. Obviously I can keep the scope for the new rifle, but I'm open to discussion.

    Also available:

If I change calibres, several tins of pellets: BSA Interceptor Hollow Points (half a tin-ish), half a tin of RWS Hobby .22, a tin or two of RWS Superdome .22, a few dozen Air Arms Field 5.52 .22s.Buffalo River gun bag and cheapy strap, though again, I can keep these for the new rifle if they're suitable.Extra info, photos etc can of course be provided if requested.

I would like to point out the following
, though; the gun, spare stock and later on the Venom tuning cost over £300 overall, not including other bits with it. No silly offers please :) I don't want to lose out too much, I'm swapping because I want to downgrade but still have something decent I can rat-bash and hopefully later on hunt with again. All in all, on offer is a not-in-tip-top condition, but a very servicable classic air rifle in good condition, which has been tuned.

I'd prefer face to face and local-ish to me. I don't mind posting, within reason.

    There are some photos here.

So if anyone is interested, please PM me on here or email me (j.dammes [at] gmail.com). Let me know what you have. I'm not 100% certain that I want to swap and if would need to be a sensible offer for me (a possibly tuned SMK, for example, plus cash, would be considered. I'm not desparate for a "top brand" rifle).

    Thanks for reading.
