1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

Thing is you can put an address in an order, especially if low value and you want to set up a decoy address, it is worth losing a tenner if you make £300!

This is an awful thing to do if he hasn't got a defence like some family tragedy or hospitalisation etc. If he doesn't have an explanation for the delay then his morale compass needs looking at.....scandalous....I feel for you matey, I really hope you get something sorted.

Strange that RyanR had 5 bits of positive feedback though - including sales.

Seems to be a theme of poor communication though, so hopefully that's all it is this time.

I have recently bought and posted (different) rifles this year and the post (PF48) has taken a week both times.

Not making excuses for the fella, mind you...

I hope you get what you've paid for, mate.

Catching up on this thread and it's a poor show. Hopefully he has sent it and is just carp at comms. I would send him a reminder or too, and if it doesn't arrive by Monday the give the police a ring. Let Ryan know what's going on and your intended action.

I know this doesn't help but I won't buy anything on any forum from people with a low post count...I did break my own rule recently and got a good deal..then slapped myself for taking the risk.

On other forums there is a minimum post count for the sales section....seems to me a good idea. It doesn't get rid of the Robles, just reduces it.

    I hope it works out.
    Thanks
    Tim B

Maybe she died six times - some are saying so, I hear in some cultures it's not unusual to have as many mother in laws as wives - imagine the grief! It can't possibly outweigh the benefits surely.

Thanks again for all of your support Lads. :thumb:
I am with you when you say maybe something has happened, illness etc but if you have gone to all the time and hassle to post it, surely you would let the person know you have sent it. I hope I am wrong but somethings just don't add up. I like F2F but when they are the other end of the country it isn't always possible. I don't use TwittFace, but I can get my son to give me any required information. I am wary of buying from people with a low count, but like I said before maybe that's because I am to trusting. I won't spend large amounts on the net purely because of the amount of thieving scum about, but usually payments are secured by Credit Cards so that's worth another thought for the future.
I have been informed with lots of information about Ryan so I will be following things up. He is not exactly in stealth mode with what's on the net so lets hope it is just an overlooked issue.
I will keep you all updated with what happens or doesn't.
    Cheers Lads, Ade :)

It’s a shame we do not have the wire fraud law they have in the states the yank FBI class this as a federal offence and take it very seriously.

I’d would suggest a county court claim you can do it on line and it’s not that expensive. Even if he ignores it you would get some small satisfaction of trashing he credit file and as we are all aware I’m sure it really messes up people lives.

I’ve been thinking about how to stop this crap on shooting forums. One way of avoiding this could be using a escrow service who hold the money untill the buyer gets his purchase it would stop scum like this ripping people off.

I almost got stitched buy using friends and family to buy a rifle of free adds thankfully my lad warned me of and strangely enough the seller pulled out when I said sorry mate face to face only.
I truly hope you get your rifle or money back my friend you do not need the bad taist this leaves in your mouth.

I was thinking about this too, I know the forum have done their best to try and mitigate this type of thing happening, maybe we could revisit the forum prerequisites and have a bit of a brainstorm and see if we can come up with anything that may have been overlooked, anything - however small may be useful to help tighten things up.

I’m also a member on a watch forum.
There is a rule that you have to get to 200 posts before you can sell there.
They look out for ‘racers’ getting post count up quickly with simple “like it” posts.
I think it helps as you get to see a bit more feedback and are able to take a more detailed view on the member.
Nothing’s full proof and the flip side it’s nice to keep these places friendly.
I must say this is a far far friendlier forum. I rarely visit the watch forum now. This place shows how stuffy it is.
I can honestly say I’ve had a great welcome, kind assistance from members and feel comfortable here, including buying in the sales section.
Just shows how one to55er can upset a great community.
I really feel for Ade and hope it turns out to be a genuine mistake and all comes good.

The thing I really like about this forum is the feedback system. Having been on here a while you soon get to know people you can trust and also see the feedback reviews.
However in this case, I trusted a zero rated person, thinking we all had to start at some point. Maybe the clue was the amount of posts. It is a fantastic forum and have had many brilliant dealings with some great people. Maybe I became a little to complaisant and should have been a little more cagey. Still the best way to learn is to lose something, so it won't happen again.
The most important thing for me, is to make sure that nobody else makes the same mistake.
I haven't given up hope yet of resolving this issue.
As I always say at work "Just be careful out there" ironic eh :D

There is absolutely no excuse for not contacting you.
Even in a family emergency you will have many 5 min gaps in the day (poo breaks etc) where you can send a quick message.
A few seconds and it is done.
    Peace
