1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

Hiya, I’m new to the forum as of today. I’m wondering what people would suggest me to buy for rabbit hunting at varying ranges on my farm. I’ve currently got a break barrel (I don’t know what it is haha) which I’ve got a few rabbits with but I’m looking to upgrade to a PCP. Would buying a new rifle package like a Phox be a better bet than buying a better second hand rifle? I am on a budget and am not selling the rabbit, they need shot back a bit because there are hundreds. All of that taken into account id appreciate advice. Thanks, Alex.

As above, 2nd hand AirArms S410
That will do the job, I'd say in .177

    Welcome along BorderfarmyBoy....

Just a thought, but if you have your own rabbit infested farm, maybe get a Fire Arms Certificate and go straight to either an FAC rated .22 airgun or rimfire rifle. I shot over infested farms for years and turned a lot of shots over 45 yards down with my 12ftlb pcp. You'll get bigger bags quicker with a further reaching gun.

Saying that, I regularly had good bags of rabbit with my pcp, but the majority are gnawing off your crops as a 12ftlb pcp picks off 5-10 each planned session. Rimfires with night vision from a 4x4 can do real damage to rabbit populations....

Have you considered the notion of having an airgunner help you out? You can still go out and play with your gun, but have someone else help out freeing up time for you to work on other things. There are always shooters looking to offer free pest control for farmers, and they might even buy you booze at christmas on top of not invoicing you :)

Alright?!? I don’t know much about air rifles mate, the one I have now I got for £40 on Facebook. It does the job but it’s barrel break and loud as. As far as I know a lot of pcp rifles have magazines and are very quiet. Advice would be handy mate.

I haven’t no, I enjoy hunting them as well. It won’t take long to push the rabbits back really like. With Covid there’s a bit more spare time to spend shooting as well.

Hmmm; I suspect that a que may be building up to offer assistance in pest control!

Welcome to the forum FarmyBoy; take care you don't get squashed in the rush to apply! ;)

Yea I could go for the license but it’s all money, I can get relatively close to them and have bagged a few with my current rifle. I wouldn’t mind not having to work as hard for them though haha. Is a Phox worth the current retail price?

pretty sure that with hundreds of rabbits to cull a member on here will step up with a loan rifle and show you how to use it!

Seriously though, depending on budget the options are huge. Personally (assuming open country shooting) it would be a Theoben Rapid Mk11 or MFR every single time.

    Save up old chap.

For the £500 your in the range of a good quality 2nd hand rifle like a s410 or a Daystate huntsman regal or a new kit, such as the Gamo Coyote, which seems to be good value for the price, as well as getting a case, pump, scope etc at certain stores.

If you go the 2nd hand route, you will need to allow for a scope, pump/tank and other sundries in your budget.

All in all, have good dig through this forum, jump over to the airgun review section and read, read, read every review you can find online or on YouTube. But remember, not every review is impartial...

Internet isn’t very good out here /: took me a while but here you go, it’s a good little gun but I’m getting sick of breaking the barrel and I think a pcp will have more range? I’m no air rifle . like haha new to all the technicalities.

    Than
Thanks fella. I doubt my folks would want a proper man for the job it’s a family farm so we don’t really like strangers on it haha sounds weird but it’s a pretty sacred place for us. It’s gonna cost a bit isn’t it haha
