1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

After waiting over six weeks for it my brand new Brocock Compatto Sniper HR .22 (FAC) it has gone back to the Shop.

    upload_2019-7-26_15-44-30.jpeg

I spent days and days trying different things like, moderator on, moderator off, single shot tray, then magazine, clean, re-lead, clean re-lead again etc, but none of the dozen or so pellets I put through (all recommended and top brand) would even get close to what you could class as a group. Shooting off a table with bags at 25 yards it was like using a shot gun! Some pellets never even made onto the target??? Eventually I took the best three and tried and tried again but this was what I got......

    upload_2019-7-26_15-33-41.jpeg

Believe me, they were the best of the twelve, good quality well known pellets like JSB’s, Bisley Magnums, Accupels, H&N’s etc. Atrocious! My friend’s SMK M22 PCP will almost put pellet on pellet at 25 yards and it’s a third of the price.

Anyway, it went back to the shop yesterday who were really, really helpful and after speaking to Brocock they gave me a full refund. So, so disappointed :( :( :( because it also had a slow air leak as well!! Oh well, I’ll have to put it down to experience and there I was thinking Brocock had sorted out their quality issues.

Back to the drawing board and I may well look again at a BSA R10. Onwards and upwards!

That is a shame Mike. Looks a nice rifle, but not with it spraying pellets like that. I would suggest trying Strattons, however if you have a refund its too late :D

So, R10 is on the cards then?

Sorry to hear this mate it looks a really nice rifle but if it's grouping like that I think a refund is best. if it's like that out of the box it ain't gona get better and sounds like you have tried just about everything a customer should to make it group. The bsa is a nice bit of kit tho. good luck buddy.

Did they identify any possible causes? Maybe just a Friday gun? Pity as I'm looking seriously for a new rifle in .177 and this was in the mix. Not now of course. Sorry it didn't work out for you.

I admit to giving up after 12 different pellets. There were a few ‘heavies’ in the mix, here’s two of them....

What is interesting is that having seen all twelve targets, Brocock didn’t argue, they just immediately took the gun back??

Adding to that is the agro of a 1-4-1 presumably a real shame.

I watched the guys assembling these a couple of weeks back as I have never owned one and was interested, they were taking great care with the assembly so I can only presume it was a bad barrel?

What was the velocity consistency like, did you chrono any shot strings?

Yes, the compatto had three power levels and this is the result for each level using Air Arms Diabolo Fields 16grains (.22) and a ten shot string.

    Low 13.2 ft/lbs - spread 9.5fps
    Med 21.4 ft/lbs - spread 18.0fps (???)
    High 26.7 ft/lbs - spread 5.6fps

Not a stupid question at all. What is stupid is that I never thought to do that. So no, same scope (Hawke Airmax) used throughout.

It's a real shame, Mike. Far too many of these have been lemons and it grieves me. I have the original Compatto and it shoots brilliantly with BisMags. How about finding a second-hand gun which has been sorted, as mine was? I just noticed that you are on FAC (mine is sub-12fpe) but the same thing applies.

Thanks for that and I think you’re absolutely right, a good secondhand one that shoots perfectly with the pellet type already sorted is the way to go.

It was an FAC rifle but l’ve all but decided not to go that route and stick with a sub 12.

Does it? Why? With all the posts on Kozak problems it just proves that every single manufacturer can produce a shoddy product. £300 or £2000 it makes no difference. Crap is crap but expensive crap is galling when you expect perfection.

You’re absolutely right, they are all from the £300 to the £3000 capable of tuning out a Friday gun. It’s just more annoying when it’s the upper end of the price bracket.

It would be interesting to know which air gun maker, by percentage, has the least returns?

For instance are more Range Rovers returned under warranty than say a Dacia Sandero?
