1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

Not really wanting to leave my rifles within easy access I decided to opt for a 'proper' gun safe and recently ordered this 6 gun safe from GDK Trading.

Its quite sturdily built and well finished and includes a small lockable inner safe which can be used to store ammo or perhaps other valuables. I turned it upside down so that the rifle butt's rest on the inner safe' and elevates them a few inches for ease of access and storage.

It's Police approved and is supplied with two keys (not keyed alike) and the keys must remain in the lock in order to unlock and open the safe, which is a minor annoyance as you need to separate all of the keys to open the safe...

The literature claims that's six rifles can be stored at once (6 very thin unscoped rifles perhaps!) but I have manged to organise it in such a way that it stores all three of my PCP rifles with scopes (but not bipods). I've also added a magnetic LED light

With one problem after another I haven't had the time to get it fixed in, but it's almost ready to use. Space was another problem and I still have to find space to house the stuff that was moved to make way for the cabinet. I need to sort concealment and alarms so I hope I have it all done by the end of the year.

    Regards
    Peter

Mine is freestanding in a cupboard, which isn't of huge concern to me as mine are all sub 12 rifles. Securing it properly would unfortunately mean placing in the centre of the cupboard (as it needs to be anchored to a solid wall) which would wipe out my storage area.

Strongly recommend that you hard fix it somehow ... mate had a similar set up for his sub-12 rifles to secure them away from the grandkids. Got burgled when away over a weekend and the scrotes just picked up the cabinet (containing DS, BSA and a lovely Rapid) and had away with it for opening at leisure. His new one is still in the same wardrobe, but he cut the bottom out and bolted the cabinet through the floorboards

I have the very same cabinet that I just fitted at the weekend, hopefully for my shotgun licence I just applied for.
There's no way it fits 6 scoped rifles as advertised, 4 at a maximum I would say

I have a 5 gun cabinet but it only fits 3. Not sure what kind of guns it could fit 5 of. One initially major annoyance was the anchor bolt heads at the bottom were well placed to scratch up my rifle stocks. I've since covered and padded them so no scratching will occur.

I made this in to a recess decades ago but the wife got me to stick my guns under the bed so she could store her VHS tapes and later, DVD's inside!, Eventually I had too many to go under the bed so I used the small spare room as a gunroom after my lads moved out!!

The 'gunroom is only a box room and now is half full of guitars and old stereo's, The other half is the guns!

I have a safe in the shed that I was given when I was going to go for fac for .22" rimfire but I changed my mind!!
It slopes back from the front up to the top, Was told i'd get six scoped rifles in side by side, The door actually lifts off and when replaced, Goes behind the bottom lip so only needs one lock at the top!, The door is about 1/4" thick and is heavy!!!

Dunno what was spilled down the front but I have a litre of green hammerite so if I do use it ever, It'll get a lick of paint!

    John :)

    Same as mine.
Been approved by police at home.

it’s bolted to a stone wall in our hallway.

    LED magnetic lamp inside.

four rifles in it... two live ammo, one FAC air and a sub 12

    all scoped

lockable ammunition safe holds my .223 and .17 hmr rounds, magazines and bolts.

    very secure.

keys locked away elsewhere in the house in a hidden location

You know what'd really help me to evaluate just how secure your safe's are is to let me know whereabouts they're located and also what time you aren't at home.

Just so I don't get in your way whilst I "test" them, you see.
