You can do what you like in your back garden as long as your pellet does not leave your boundery.

so i can shoot (pretty much) as much as i want in my back garden (within reason!), so long as the pelletts dont leave the boundary, and that i dont bait animals?

so i can shoot any animal that enters at its own will? provided its not a protected species?

i think you will find that you cannot shoot anything AT ALL even if it is on the Defra general pest list.
you are required to try other methods of control first AND the species must be causing a problem before you are even close to being legal shooting it.

if you end up in court you will need to prove shooting the species was a last resort to deal with a problem.
