1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

Lately there seems to be quite a few members (mainly new members with low post count) who seem to enjoy flaunting the sales rules. Including one or two who when informed have the nerve to say mind your effing business. Well in my opinion, in order to keep scammers off the sales threads here, we all need to be vigilant. There are so many scammers on freeads. It's a breeding ground for em.

I really don't understand why they do it after seeing this message just before they post their ad:

IMPORTANT - SALES RULES - PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING!

Do not list items for sale or swap on this forum that you have listed elsewhere.

I think our sales areas are the best on any forum and they are like that for a reason, effective rules and policing and trust amongst members of the community.

    Rant over............:coffee:

Seen it before and highlighted my concerns. I'm sorry to have to put it this way but if some noob replied with obscenities or profanities I would report them and hopefully get 'em banned. I honestly believe the scum on Freeads only join this forum to sell their stuff. The safety net is there for a reason.

I've noticed a number of new sellers lately on here, makes me a bit nervous to be honest. New members are welcome but when the first post is a sales post I stay clear of it personally

Another forum I am on (for Defender owner's) has a restriction on the sales section whereby you cant post "sale items" until you have a certain number of general posts.

Obviously you can quickly build up a post count, however, if these are seen to be of a trivial / non related nature the new user could have the post count increased or even be "banned" from the sales section until they have shown some commitment to the community or permanently.

No, I asked a mod some time ago about this and was told mods keep a trained eye open.

  11. I don't think so but there definitely should be, a little like access to the adult section I've seen mods say to people: after a few more posts contributing to the forum

It doesn't matter if some nooby just comes on here to advertise his gun, what irks me is that they deliberately flounce the rules of this forum and advertise it on sometimes freeads and other shooting forums. They know what they are doing. They read the rules and know to put a piece of paper with date and name on. So they have read the rules. Should get a temporary ban from sales in my opinion including being able to view the sales.

Not temporary, but permanent IMO Bill as I would hate for established and trusted members to be ripped off by someone whose only reason for registering is to sell and then disappear back into the ether

Pardon my ignorance but is there a specific reason or issue that arises, from an established and responsible member of the forum advertising the item on another place or forum, that may capture a different audience?

Or is it also just an issue with potential con artists?

Not that I think it should change, I am just asking?

Andy the owner has had this rules for many years now. It stops the disappointment of saying yes to said item only to find out you've missed out because someone else has beaten you to it on another forum.

Presumably it stops sellers taking advantage by playing potential buyers off price wise and gives anyone on the forum first dibs. I view all sales, be it a set of mounts or a DS limited edition, the same and would only advertise in one place at a time since I wouldn't want to mislead or pee people off. The forum sales rules are very clear IMO and anyone who can't understand that shouldn't be allowed to sell on here at all, plus any transaction is a gentleman's agreement that should be honoured rather than regarded as an opportunity to start haggling.
