1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

Different laws up this neck of the woods, but I am now fully licensed by Police Scotland to own an air weapon.

Can I just go into a RFD in England and purchase an air pistol with just my driving licence and air weapon certificate and not have to have it delivered / waiting period ?

    Thanks.

You can go to an RFD in England and buy an air rifle. All they need is your proof of ID with address. Like a driving licence. They don't need to see your Jock airgun licence. You can take it home 10 minutes later.

I have a question too. Can a person living in England buy an air rifle or pistol from a Scottish RFD and take it home the same day?

No. Not any day without a visitors AWC. Best to get a Scot to buy it then hand it over at the Border in England when you leave. Lol.

She sure has. Shame, as I use to enjoy going to Scotland, but I would never set foot in the place now.

So does the AWC have to be filled in (like an FAC), with the details of the purchase/acquisition, or do you just have to show them that you have an AWC?

If you purchase an air rifle or a pistol from any RFD in Scotland wether you are English or Scottish you need an air weapons certificate even if you are English and intend to take it back to England.

You show them your Original, not a photocopy, of your AWC. When purchase is made RFD logs your AWC details and gun details in ledger which is made available to Poleas Alba on request.

So how would an English person get one, surely it would have to be approved by the Scotland police firearm dept, and I presume a visit from them.

If you are aged 18 or over and hold a valid firearm and/or shotgun certificate issued in England or Wales that began before the 30th of December 2016, you won’t need a separate certificate to own or use air weapons while in Scotland. You can continue to use and possess your air weapons until such times as they expire.

Persons who are not shotgun or firearm certificate holders or whose certificates were granted or renewed on or after 31 December 2016, will need to apply and possess a visitor’s permit or a full air weapon certificate before bringing their air weapons into Scotland.

    VISITOR PERMITS

Air weapon visitor permits can be valid for a period not exceeding 12 months. On applying for this you must specify the exact dates (if known) during which you will be travelling to/from Scotland.

You will have to note that in Scotland, you would need an air weapon certificate or visitor’s permit to purchase an air weapon and walk out the shop with it. To purchase, you could apply for a visitor’s permit, which would give you this option.

You can buy an air weapon from a Registered Firearms Dealer and have the weapon sent directly to your home country without requiring a permit.

You can find information on fees and the relevant application forms here.

To keep within the Law each party must check each other’s AWC. If you buy or sell to an uncertificated person and traced or caught you are up s4it creek. Lol.

If you come to Scotland to shoot you can apply for a visitors ticket which allows you to shoot for the duration of your visit but with people with an air weapon certificate.

Its mad but its the silly rules that we have up here now.

If you are English you wouldn't want to buy an air rifle up here as they are more expensive than down south.

The rules are that ridiculous in Scotland last year I couldn't legally sell an air rifle to a member of a shooting club near me coz he hasn't got an air weapon certificate but hes got a shotgun certificate and a firearms license.

    HOWS THAT FOR STUPIDITY ?
