1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

I'm an animal lover and incidents like this sicken me. Even though i've been an airgunner for over 40 years prehaps a total ban is the way to go. There's no other way to stop these cowardly mindless yobs. If losing my airguns means saving lives and preventing cruelty, Then so be it.:(

I know what your saying, but i doubt a total ban would stop it. The one that are doing it will carry on regardless. If yobs can get their hands on 9mm handguns and other illegal weapons, they sure as hell can get hold of an airgun be it pistol or rifle.

Something needs to be done that's for sure. Half the trouble today is there is no deterrent all they get is an asbo or a community service, then off they go again.
What they need is a damn good birching. Then see if they want to go and shoot the neighbours cat again.

I don't even think licencing an airgun would make much difference. It wouldn't bother me if they chose that route though, as i have more than enough permission from local landowners to enable me to get a licence for pest and vermin control i would of thought. If i had the choice of a total ban or you have to have a licence I'd vote for the licence. How many of you others would?

Totaly agree. it wouldnt make the blindest bit of difference. And lets face it, if they aint running around with 9mm's, airguns, crossbows whatever they would be running around wth sumat else no doubt about it!

Yobs are yobs what tools they use is irelivant.

Just give em a dam good beating i think!

Or maby shoot them in the back of the leg and see how they like it??

. knows if i ever found out who shot my old cat 3 times in the legs I would!!

Yeah.. I have to agree, I think your right. Yobs will cause trouble no matter what and a ban would just punish the sensible users. Guess i just reacted to the thread and posted without giving it proper thought. In cases like this, the law at the moment seems to be punishing the airgun and not the user, if you know what i mean. Hope the b*stards get caught soon and are given the proper sentence they deserve.

Talk is Cheap - Actions are Near Impossible

If this Government could really get past it's PC Policy of Failing to Punish Offenders for Crimes

Offenders would soon Stop - risking possible punishment

As Stated this or any other Government Could not bring in a Air Gun Ban

As Air Gun's do not Excist on any Register -

As Police and Courts can not cope with Offences on today's Books
without a Stream of New Offences or Possible Air Gun Ban

i love my air rifle but if some tool shot my cat I would gladly do time for it.

we need to make sure people know this is not an air rifle enthusiast who did this, most people are not very clever so they will automatically assume we are the same, i just hope these fools do not get our rifles taken away from us for their immature actions.

Sorry but i still don't think that will happen. Well I'm hoping not anyway. I was reading the latest BASC magazine that dropped though the door yesterday and reading the article in there it sounds as though no decision has been made as yet.
It does say that there may be a law brought in that airguns have to be kept in a locked cabinet the same as shotguns and other firearms.

i dont think a ban will happen but the times they are a changing
no more leaving you rifle under the bed or in the wardrobe
gun cabinets are going to go through the roof soon, price wise. as we are all going to have to have one to keep a rifle at home,as it will have to be locked away from anyone under the age of 17 and it will be the owners responsiblity if its falls into the wrong hands. then licencing WILL follow
and you must show a good cause for owning a rifle if you cant no licence no rifle. join your local shooting club NOW as its going to get a lot harder in the very near future.

Your right mate, the damned SNP are gunning for an outright ban up here and if Hollyrood get the devolved powers then its goodbye airguns!!.
Personally I think the whole airgun fiasco up here is simply a coverscreen to mask all Hollyroods other failings (which are many!).
    Media hype at its worst!!.
