1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

Sorry if this is old news but I have been in hospital for a few weeks. I heard the news on tv a while ago some smug g*t telling everyone that the law obiding airgun owners of Scotland must register there guns or hand them in (no word about compensation) now only people who use there guns for pest controle or target shooting can get a certificet. What about collectors my own modist collection is worth several thousand pounds and covers pistols and rifles the oldest being over 100 years old up to new guns with quite a few that were never avaliable in the UK when new but are now turning up from Europe and America. if i dont get a ticket then the party that I have voted for most of my life from the age of 18 will steal my collection. How do they think this is going to afect my vote next time. I suspect they may find a few others turning there backs on them. the thing that realy gets me wild is the fact MR Salmond paraded the mother of the young boy killed by a junky with an airgun in front of TV cameras but forgot to mention that not only was she a convicted drug dealer but on the day of the shooting her famely sold the shooter drugs. Is it only me or dose this sound like sound like carma. I wonder if MR Salmond made enquires as to how meny lives this drug dealer has destroyed I think not. So the only concluson that I can come to is if you want to get some new law passed a criminal record is going to get you what you want and screw the thosands of hard workiing tax paying law abiding people that it will efect. One final word to all my English frends out there watch out this knee jerk law will most likly be heading your way soon.

Being a collector is a legitimate reason for a licence so you should be fine.
Agreed though, the only people that this law will affect is the legitimate and responsible owners. The neds will need only pop to Carlisle if they want to pick one up and bring it back to Scotland to avoid any registration required following the law being introduced (if politicians don't see since before then and reverse the decision).

Yet another reason to vote no! Don't get me wrong Westminster isnt perfect, not by a long way....but Scotland governing itself? This is a country that cannot even build one building (The Scottish Parliament) without it going at least ten times over budget (and that's all they owned up to) and don't get me started on the Edinburgh Trams fiasco. They cant even tell you what currency we would be using, or who would be controlling it, if we would be in the EU etc....a complete and utter embarrassment!

They say The People get the Government The People deserve....it doesn't matter who you vote for, the Government always gets voted in. I used to live in the parish that returned a Monster Raving Loony Party MP !!

I think we all need a dose of Good Luck.

A question for Scotland......will this still go ahead if the vote is NO? Or does it need the release from Westminster for it to actually take effect. I only get snippets of news and so haven't really got the gist of what stage things are at.

It will still go ahead if its a no vote. Airgun control was devolved to Scottish Parliament. Also they want shotgun and FAC control devolved as well.

The Basque was well worth a look. But, more seriously, can Accuspell advise us whether the Monster Raving Loony Party guy (or gal) was actually any worse than the rest. Considering the present inhabitants of the asylum, I doubt it.

Ah but thats the cunning part of the vote. You vote for independance but you don't know what you are getting till afterwards when it gets negotiated. Salmond can say we're having the oil and the pound were re nationalising the post office etc but he can't do jack **** as Westminster will decide what he gets. The airgun law's coming in whether you like it or not now though, as to what it's final wording will be is probably yet to be determined. Probably had all better move south and leave Salmond on his own.

I would be looking at the possibility of converting a set of bagpipes to a multi barrelled air weapon!:D:cool:

Yeah I know that my point is that they have already screwed up practically everything that they have been given control over in the "pretend" parliament, so imagine what things would be like if they controlled everything

Yeha you're right about whether Independence happens or not, these things will go ahead but regarding the Independence vote, Its not actually a vote for the SNP (necessarily) that will decide things, its a vote to decide if Scotland leaves the UK. If Scotland leave the UK it could be a Labour Government (Christ lol).

Try telling that pillock Salmond that a yes vote isn't a vote for the SNP. The worrying thing about this airgun legislation is that it seems that Scotland as previously mentioned wants devolved powers on all firearms law prior to a possible yes vote. Personally I think you have a bunch of anti's in control who will look for an outright ban on all firearms if they get it and almost certainly after a yes vote. Still time will tell eh.
