1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

They stage 2 tuned my hw97 a few months ago. More than happy with the service, and the gun was excellent, when it came back.

There's an 8 week waiting list, I had mine back recently too.

Having read alot of threads on various boards about SFS 'attitude' I have to say that I too have found them a bit 'bolshy', if that's a word, on occasion. For example I once mentioned I had a Combro, and that got me a short lecture on why they are crap. However apart from this, the guy there talked me through the tuning, showed me the log book they keep, even showed me the spring and delrin guide they use. Probably talked to me on the subject for 15 minutes. Apart from the Combro thing, he was very helpful and friendly.

My rifle was tuned very nice, their pellets are reasonably priced (everything is slightly cheaper online than in a real shop obviously), and I've bought things like gun bags etc which all seem reasonably priced.

Having lived round the area all my life, it can sometimes be the black country way, to appear a little defensive/protectionist, I find. So I tend to put it down to this and try to ignore it.

The waiting list has been steadily rising ever since that guy off The Hunting Life forum / Vermin Hunters TV started plugging them every chance they could get. They have alot of business to thank him for I think.

Tom, i always been happy the price and the quality of tuning Tony does. My only gripe would be waiting time. Uk neil just down the road from you will do just a good a job in a 1/4 of the time. Not used wonky donkey in shropshire yet but intend to he has a great reputation and again is likely to be much quicker.

I travelled a 200 mile round trip to ask for advice an my 1985 BSA Supersport. The service and advice was superb. I was made to feel welcome and my gun was booked in for a tune. Even though it's not the latest most up to date gun Tony was enthusiastic and very helpful.
The gun was posted back to me 5 weeks later earlier than expected and they had re blued my barrel , which not not charged for or asked for so it looked great and now shoots superb. The difference is amazing.

Good shop with a helpful staff...

However my first meeting with Tony was a bit confrontational... I commented on how hard the place was to find from my area and he just
laughed and said how easy it was.... I muttered yam yam under my breath and said ********.

A few of our customers have used Sandwell to tune their HW97's. When they brought them in for us to see we were very impressed with them. They were lovely to shoot. When people ask us about tuning we recommend looking at Sandwell Field Sports. As a few people have said, due to them being quite popular there is a bit of a waiting list.

Although hearing lots of grumblings from a few folks at clubs locally, It would only be fair to comment from my own personal experiences. Tony and the rest of the staff have always treated me well and provided me with a good service.
    Regards Stu.

Why not do it yourself, there are plenty of threads on here and other forums with pics and suppliers. It isn't hard, you can't really break anything,it's not alchamy.Basically clean beburr polish, new spring, top hat and guide, piston sleeve and delrin buttons for the piston. All are easily available from tuning suppliers online. You can even do the trigger tune, plenty of guides available there too.I ordered a maccari piston seal and breech seal from the USA took 10 days to get here and cheaper than UK ones,PTFE sheet off the bay £6 you could make 6 sleeves with it.Look on youtube there are vids of tuning,it's no different to what the "pro's" do.Let's be honest it's your pride and joy,you will treat it as a labour of love and go the extra yard to make it perfect, not some unknown bloke in the back of a shop churning out loads for a profit. The satisfaction you will get and the knowledge you will gain will make you wonder why you thought about sending it off in the first place.Never mind 8 weeks it can easily be done by yourself in a day at a leisurely pace with brews and bacon butties included.
