1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

Just a bit of a heads up for rm8 owners, I bought my rm8 varmint in June this year, chronod it and was happy with the 11.5ft/lb with jsb exact 4.52s.....
It's now had probably about 2500-3000 pellets through it.
I recently borrowed my mates chrono again just to check as it sounded louder than it had before.... checked it again with the exact 4.52s.... not a good result.... phoned pellpax and they have arranged to collect it asap and get it sorted for me.

Now, I'd read a few people had problems with the power being low when they got their rifles, maybe they were relying on the power going up on its own like mine did....

    Anyone else had this?

My RM8 was 12.56 straight of the box so obviously it went back and I’ve now got a HW100

Mine does 11.7 with the fastest pellets my gunsmith has, will have to keep an eye on it.

Mine was spitting exacts at 800+fps and heavys at 760+fps

The only thing that's altered is I've added baffles to the backdraft mod, could that be the cause?

i find a mod increases fps 5-10fps on guns ive tested , how would the law test the gun ? as found or mod off ? i have recently been trying to tune a .177 rm8 and without playing with reg am left with only hammer spring, was very surprised as my .22 i barely polished the ends and reduced spring length 1mm and was able to set power as required with some .2mm shimsin hammer end, on this .177 i ended up with 5mm or more off spring to get down to 11.5ftlbs there is a lot of free play on hammer now so from what ive seen on here could be considered an short stiff spring set up now?was just surprised how kept taking a mm off at a time was doing next to nothing sitting at 770 with sovs now but not a very tight fps spread +/-10fps

But I haven't changed the mod, just put some hair curler type baffles in it... surely that wouldn't up the power by almost 1ft/lb

no not 1 ftlb from mod , pellets were same , ive seen a 1ft lb variation on pellets easily, did you recently lube anything , maybe some high spots on the hammer bedding in spring seat faces etc or the reg changing , thats why shooters needs to chrony regularly, things settle ,wear , change.

So, pellpax have confirmed my findings that my rm8 is firing at 13.5ft/lb so it will be shortly winging its way back to their supplier to be rectified under warranty... Well that's the good news....

Bad news is I'm without a rifle for the next 10-14 days (apparently)

Purchased my Rm8 on tuesday this week , took it back in to get a refill on the bottle after about 150 shots give or take and i did get them to chrono it whilst there , 11.to 11.2 ft/Ib with an 8.48 grain .177 pellet, should i expect this to go up with further usage?

The first time I chronod mine it was 11.6-11.7 with 8.4gr Jabs and after firing about 3000 shots had gone up to 12.2-12.3 so I'd keep a check on it

Ok having chrono tested my one week old rm8 in .177 i am seeing just under 11 ft/lb , is this likley to creep up over more use? i hope so tbh to be around the 11.5 ft/lb mark , i am not at 500 shots through mine yet...obviously i do want it it to stay legal.

Interesting thread with power increasing because the RM8 has a history of power fluctuations but in the past they lost power with numbers of owners suffering with around 9fpe or less.
Good to see they still manufacture high quality rifles.............................not.

No, because you may have bought a worse problem.
The RM8 is heavy and may have a few issues but so does just about every other brand on the market. Enjoy what you've got, when you fancy a change then ask for advice but spend £2k on what is basically a toy? Nope, that would be stupid.
