1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

Why did I read this post
I was going to buy a 2nd hand Ripley a few weeks back but changed my mind last minute after unexpected plumbing costs.
Now I'm looking further ahead and thinking.........

    I finally grew a pair!!!
Just spoke to Steve and got a good phone line for once.
He's very busy at the mo with services, but he is getting on. I'm to call again in about a month....
Frustrating that it's taking so long, but I know what it's like with engineering and being on your own in a workshop.
At least now I know and can get a plan in place.
Fingers crossed for a good summer as I'll have to learn the beast (and get a single shot adaptor sorted) before the world's in September!

I keep meaning to update this....

    The news is .....

'give us a call in aboot 3 weeks lad'

Which I first heard at the end of April, then again more recently... I will give him a ring again on the 12th June and see how we go!

I called Steve last week and had a quick natter. I think he has been mega-busy with services and all sorts, and as far as I know he is still on his own.
He has been experimenting with blasting media for different finishes too.
Last week he took nearly 100 bits of rifle to be anodised, when they are back they go for engraving, then final assembly...
I might be waiting for a while yet!

Yeah I reckon it will. In a way, I'm glad he is taking his time and getting it right. I also wish he would crack on and I could get it in my hands already! Patience has never been my string point!

Not sure how I managed to miss this thread @Pete236 .

I knew from your response to a recent pic of mine that you were waiting for yours to be completed but I didn't realize it was urgent for you to get your hands on one for measurements. I'm not a million miles away so if you want you can pop over one day and have a play with it.

Thanks for the update. It will be worth the wait. My Ar5 is great. It took a while to arrive too but was spot on from the word go. I think when we see yours there may be a few more orders heading Steve’s way lol

    Morning.
That's very kind, thanks! I might well take you up on that next week - I'm spending the week working not far from you.
I'll be using one of my Aztecs on mine, so whatever mounts you are using with work for me too. What I'm most interested in, is the mag and breech area. I'm determined to give it a single shot option somehow!

Fingers crossed I can pick it up soon. It's my birthday at the end of June, I would rather like to have it by then! I keep getting excited....then letting myself down....then getting excited .... You get the picture!

Had another, very brief chat with Steve this morning.
The batch of parts are back from anodising and 'look really great' but he doesn't know when it will be ready until he starts building it...
Frustrating muchly! I think when it's done I'll be up the motorway instantly and to hell with anything else!
But Steve knows his rifles, he's forgotten more about engineering than I will ever know and I'll just have to sit back and trust him :)

Since you have been talking about these I have been having a gentle look around at them. And not that I want one I think I would rather have one than a Daystate just to be different. I note most of the stock makers inlet for them too. Win-win.

You're a much more patient man than me @Pete236 I'd pulled all my hair out by now.

They're not everyone's cup of tea @Blue BSA. Best I can describe it is it's similar to owning a Morgan. If you can live with it's quirks and lack of certain features you take for granted with something more modern then you'll love the way it just oozes quality and workmanship.

That's exact why I went for one in the end. For the price of a (relatively) mass produced Daystate, one can have a rifle hand-made with quite a lot of customisation, with a choice of stocks, and it will be different to every other one out there. It's a big chunk of cash, but every one I've spoken to has said that it's well worth it.
