1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

I don't usually start threads like this but as a knife collector/user and this being something I know that will effect a large number of people in this sport as well as in general I thought I'd post this here in the hope of making more people aware.

The government in its usual misguided attempt at stopping crime/criminals is proposing a huge change in the way the general public can purchase knives and have them delivered to private residences. From the petition....

This will cause huge upset for businesses as well as law abiding customers not to mention how difficult it will make it for the house bound/disabled who wish to purchase knives for legitimate use.

    Petition here: https://petition.parliament.uk/peti...146974197&mc_cid=e093588ac8&mc_eid=7f2e174f1b

Please take a moment of your time to consider the implications and sign it if you agree with trying to get this stopped now before it goes too far. Thanks. :thumb:

I signed up to “they work for you” last year, so any discussion in the commons or House of Lords concerning air guns, firearms is sent through to me. The offensive Weapons bill got it second reading the other day. I was encouraged by the many Conservative MP’s who are now realising what a waste of time the handgun ban was, and how the ban on.50 calibre rifles will be the same. Also discussed the knive law changes as well, again lots of them expressing concern that it will be completely pointles. The new Home Secretary kept saying that he was willing to discuss things further, but will have to wait and see.

    Great stuff all. :claping:
In the 8 hours since I posted this thread about the petition it has gone up by over 1200 signatures so hopefully it will get the support it deserves.

Another thing to note is that just like the ban on airguns being sold via mail order companies and delivered to private addresses if the ban goes ahead consumers are severely limited on what they can buy & the prices they pay in most cases.

Please can those of you who use social media like Facebook or Twitter give it some free advertising on those platforms too.

I saw on the news last night photos of these yobs on mopeds who are stealing handbags and phones in broad daylight in London, the passengers on the bikes were armed, with hammers, so I guess they will have restricted sales next. As I said in my earlier post, a fair number of the MP’s who spoke at the second reading are realising that these bans and new laws only effect the law abiding, the criminal element couldn’t give a stuff.
They also said they plan to compensate owners of .50 calibre and MARS system rifles if banned, so hopefully they will compensate people who supply knives as a living, and who might lose their livelihood.

Will the government, whether that’s the Tories, Labour or whomever, EVER realise that the criminal element doesn’t give a toss about the law and these types of legislation will not make a jot of difference to reducing crime. It only ever negatively impacts the lives of the good guys that always abide by the laws.

Rant over. That feels a bit better!

The suggestions will have no effect whatsoever on crime. Only constant, extreme, wearing harassment of suspects and ignoring the idiots who will shout about racism will make the difference

    Couldn't agree more.

Imho all this "human rights" and "racism card" stuff needs to be drop kicked into touch when we're talking about criminals. The Police need to be allowed to be tougher with the criminals without the worry of being prosecuted themselves for hurting a crim or whatever.

Manchester Police are already trying to get tough with Moped thieves...

Back on topic though another 1K people have signed the petition in the last 4 hours! That's pretty good going but spread the word still please. :thumb:
