1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  6. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

West Mids was the very first place I saw an Marks n Spencer Food store in a petrol station. I thought by christ its posh around Stratford on Avon
I know places up here EXACTLY like that :) Even gorgeous Durham City end up looking like Moscows Red Square on Miners Gala Day

Some parts up here are nice, mainly well inland, but others would be great places to film episodes of The Walking Dead.

That's it, Durham, we stayed with friends up there for a week, their idea of a fun day out was to take us to see the sights in a place called Consett!
I'm still not sure what I was supposed to have seen?

Where were you when I needed that piece of advice decades ago @Lukeypoodle? Moved out of Cheltenham to Lincolnshire, doubled the size of my house for the same money. Some years later time to move back to civilisation, ha, think again. My house prices had (effectively) stayed still; the south however…

That's true enough, once you move north you cannot afford to go back without a lottery win. Luckily, we love it here and wouldn't go back even with a lottery win.

Daytime television, a scourge I’ve steered clear of since lockdown #1 and subsequent retirement - with the exception of Escape to the Country. For the uninitiated it’s where the producers show 3 properties in the area and price range of choice to the house hunters of that day. Shropshire features often and always looks a delight, you’re lucky to live there.

South Shropshire, north Worcestershire, peaceful and unspoilt. Have said for years now that I won’t venture east of the M5

I'm from East Mids (Leicester) but moved to West Mids (Tenbury) about a dozen years ago.
You'd have to drag me kicking and screaming to go back, but that's more about city V's country living than their place on a compass or map.

I agree about these deluded people. They remind me of the types who went to Spain in search of a better life in the sun then complained it was too hot, the beer was rubbish and you couldn't get a decent Sunday roast in 85-degree heat. They turned patches of their new country into an over-heated version of the land they left behind. I rejoice in not seeing any buildings higher than three stories in my local town and miles of trees and farm fields marching off into the distance between my house and the Welsh hills. The only air pollution we have is from the piggery on the other side of the village when the wind is occasionally in the wrong direction. Phew!

We are born bred and now live in the East midlands, actually on the Leics Notts Derby borders. I would not live anywhere else in the UK. We have it all. The scenery and wildness of north Derbyshire, usually plenty of work and where we live very little crime.

Tenbury is our nearest town (I’m halfway between Ludlow and Tenbury) and we love it! Wouldn’t move away for all the tea in China.

Yes, I’m the other side of Tenbury, looking out over the clee hill. The beauty of this but of the Midlands is how quiet it is. If you are stuck behind a car that counts as a traffic jam!

The Midlands covers a big area, and house prices vary a lot. The price of a decent house in a desirable Northants village would buy a small holding in Shropshire for example. A lot of the Midlands towns are not at all attractive, Northampton getting a specific mention in this area, yet a few miles away estate agents have waiting lists for houses in the villages and solicit people to sell specific houses. The nature of the areas can be widely different too, much more varied as a region than the Home Counties.

A lot depends on what you want - in Northants you can live in a village but be in easy reach of 2 theatres and several cinemas in Northampton, less than an hour from the CBSO, Birmingham Ballet etc, and reach London and the South East easily, 3 airports within 90 mins, but it comes at a cost in house prices and traffic. If you want nothing - Shropshire for example delivers, but be ready for it. Nothing wrong with it, good things maybe to be said about having nothing, and as you can see some really like it, and for good reason, but Shrops is not a quiet or low cost version of the Home Counties or Cotswolds, and could take some getting used to if approached that way.

Do think about health care though.
