1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

Hi all, does anyone know of the cheapest place to get the qys streamlined heavy pellets. Just tried them at 45yds in my vulcan 2 and I'm very impressed. Very tight grouping. Big thanks to @jesim1 for sending me some to try and also @nevadacowboy for sending me the standard streamline. All performed very well but the heavies were very impressive today in a slight breeze. Thanks again guys. Only taken me around two months to try them out!

And if possible can anyone point me in the direction of which QYS pellet resembles an exact 8.44gr.

I'd like to try some buy pictures seems to mostly show them with points on and I'm not going down that old route like 40 years ago with pellets whistling and tumbling

I watched a YouTube video of Phil Hardman trying some 177 8.44g QYS pellets. He seemed to agree they were pretty good. I hadn’t seen them before.

Don’t discount pointy pellets - especially in .22. JSB Srrattobs are very accurate in a lot of .22’s....you don’t want to like them, but no denying the results. :D. .177 are not so good though.

    Go on....give them a go. :D

I am using .177 Strattons in my Kozak. I shoot standing and they shoot very well, but then most pellets work well in the Kozak. I must try them in .22 in my other Kozak.

You want the streamlined or domed versions. Both 8.48g. The heavies were the best in my vulcan 2 and my steyr. Though maybe talking literally a mm or 2 in group size. They're not pointed as such. More like a barracuda match style head shape.

    That's a result then, I won't bother trying them in my .177

I prefer the sound of domed or streamlined rather that pointy :)

Just need the OP replying to regarding price and I'll get some ordered

Cheapest I can see so far for the heavies is 110 plus 6 postage for ten tins from uttings. Think countryway were slightly cheaper but none in stock. The normal streamlined are cheaper. Around 100 for ten tins.

Its gonna be pretty expensive for a tin of each through the post then.

I hope they're enough better than exacts to warrant the cost.

Giving me slightly tighter groups than jsb heavies. At 35 yds there was literally nothing between around 12 different pellets. At 45yds they def had the edge but that's in my gun. I know lads whose guns shoot the jsb as well or better.

I've not compared beyond 30m so may need to test again at longer ranges. :thumb:. 5h1te eyesight and lack of skill may undermine the validity of my results though.

Hmmmm I've always found exacts to be excellent at all ranges in my .177 but had heard that the qys might be a fraction tighter and a fraction more consistent. You do get the odd flyer in jsb.

They'd need to be at least that much better due to the price so is the consensus that that might be the case?

No mate, a few lads at our hft have tried them and use Exacts as they still give better groups in their rifles. If I were you I'd just send off to pellet perfect for some sample packs. Be cheaper than buying full tins if they're no good in your gun.

oddly enough a couple of lads were getting impressive results using qys pellets this morning at the INSIGHT range at Chilton and the staff themselves were using qys pellets as well

I use the Streamlined 9.56Gr in my .177 rapids and they are excellent. Uttings is the cheapest place I have found for them but be aware the delivery charges are the same be it one or ten tins. I am still trying to find out the ballistic coefficient of these pellets with no success so far.

HFT is nearer to my usage than so I'll probably do just that and get some samples, cheers.
