1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

I'm going to have a little think about this idea. Not only will scoops be easier, but will save customers getting their hand covered in lead, possibly, and will save counting them all out.

Surely you’d just weigh them out?

So for example what about if we provided little empty bags for people to use, a pen so you can write on the bags what pellets you've picked and say its £X amount for 200 grams of pellets.
Don't know the weight without going and weighing a rough amount for 500 pellets.

You can then select 2,5,10 different types of pellets if you wanted to, and it's your choice how many of each pellet you want.

Weighing them is by far the easiest method. 30grams of 8.5grain pellets is about 55 pellets, this should be enough for people to decide if they like them, or they can buy 60g.

Here is around 300 of what I had left on the QYT Streamline .177 8.48gr weighed, they are certainly not as precise as they claim:

Do you do the .22 ones?
I meant to catch up with the shooting party lads last week at the NSS but never got around to it.

Excellent idea! I’d like to try these new pellets (and indeed any new pellet) but in smaller qualities first. The initial reviews seem very favourable but as we know it’s more about what suits our guns.

Anyway, back to the initial question, yes, if the price is right why not stock them.

There are not any .22 ones listed on our trade list. They're new to use so i don't even know if they actually make .22 pellets.

I will look at getting an order in next week and hopefully have them by the end of the week.

I was told they would be starting to import them Spring 2019. That's why I wanted to ask The Shooting Party about them. Nevermind cheers for the reply :D

But surely, weighing them is the hardest method. Pellets come as zinc or tin (very lightweight) up to the lead heavies, so from H+N Match Green .177 @ 5.25gr to Bisley Magnums .177 @ 10.6gr. (for example) Weighing would be a nightmare; you would need to know the weight x number to be anything like accurate but the volume of the pellets would be very close to the same so a 'scoop' of 50 BisMags would be a scoop of 50 Match Greens. Make the scoop any number you want but it could be like weighing powder for the cartridge reloaders; a small scoop, a medium or a large one for 25, 50 or 100. A certain amount of honesty wil be required from shooters who help themselves but if dispensed by the gunshop staff there should be no problem. It would be like the sweetie shop I knew as a child. Only deadlier. :)

Agreed if they are being mixed up.

You could have separate bags for each pellet weight. 8.44g 10g etc etc.

Would anyone actually WANT a mixed bag? Surely the point of doing it is to get specific samples to test, so you'd (well I would) want to know exactly what is in which bag :)

I never imagined that anyone would want to mix their pellets, only have the opportunity to take small samples of any they want to try and kept in separate bags!

Quick update on the QYS pellets. Our order went in yesterday and we should have them by the end of the week.
We have ordered the FT Domed, Streamline FT Domed and Streamline FT Domed Heavy, all in 4.50.

Trouble is, with the scoop idea, there is the very high potential to damage other pellets when you stick the scoop in, which then means whoever is next to scoop from that batch will end up with the damaged ones and so-on. Not every customer is going to be gentle with the scoop :(
