1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

Does anyone really care? We have all this furore about it belonging to Britain, then the Argies say it belongs to them. Im probably in the minority but I dont really give a toss who it belongs to? Its miles away from the UK ive never been there and have no intention of ever going there. Why not just let the Falklanders have a vote and let them decide and be done with it? If they want to be British then thats their choice if they want to be Argentinian then fine?

A lot of our men died defending this place, it matters a great deal. I ain't particularly patriotic and I couldn't stand Thatcher but those men gave their lives to defend what is ours even if it has no financial value.

The Falklands have plenty of financial value.

True, but did we know this 30 years ago? I believe it was more ego than oil killing our men.

the Falklands are no different to Jersey or Guernsey ,or even Gibralter in that they a sovereign owned yet far closer to other countries than our own. they are remnants of a once almighty powerful nation called the British empire.
and as long as British nationals reside on them and swear eligence to the queen then we should defend them as if we where defending the Queen herself.

Erm...well...it's like this. The Falklanders are British. They speak English and most likely nothing else other than schoolboy French/German/whatever.

If they were to vote, there'd be only one way the vote would go.

Well this is what I keep hearing but it all sounds a bit pompous to me and is also a major reason why nobody really has much time for Britain. Pomposity (and possibly arrogance?) is a word that seems to go hand in hand with describing Britain. To me thats not something to be proud of rather something to be embarrassed about. In fact the only country most full witted people probably have less time for is America (our bedfellows or rather we are their lapdog?). I think you hit the nail on the head with the "once almighty British Empire part". I think we now have to accept that we are a bit of a laughing stock and have more important things to concentrate on i.e. getting our own house in order! Lets be honest we can't even put a criminal in prison without the taxpayer being sued, people cant have a minor bump in their car without claiming for whiplish, mental anguish, hurt feelings etc. People walking down the street not looking where they are going and falling over used pick themselves up as quick as a flash, dust themselves down and hope to . nobody saw it, now they are off to the nearest ambulance chasing lawyer to see who they can sue, most dont even have the decency to be embarrassed about it. If I was living in the Falklands I think I would rather be Argentinian than British anyway but the point is if there is any debate about why not let the people who actually live there decide?

Ermmmmm well why not let that be the case? The people have spoken as it were? Not much anyone could do about it then and we could all get on with the things that matter?
