1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

So the Mods don't agree with a certain post they delete it?

This used to be a great forum, but now it's become a place where opinions can't be voiced?

Tadpole: if you've got a problem with something i post have the decency to inform me instead of deleting everything and closing threads.

i admin two sites and treat everybody with courtesy, my last post that you deleted was neither rude or offensive, so what's the problem?

I think some just can not conduct themselves properly when out in public.

Anyways who really cares if a Your post get deleted, it's not as if its the end of the world.
Bigger things in this world to worry about, like is there a cold beer in my fridge.

Grow up and get over it!

Matty, if somebody is rude or abusive etc i can understand a post being deleted or the member banned or at least warned, i always try and be polite even if i have opinions people don't agree with but, i see a lot of posts removed and threads locked nowadays.

That is not what forums are about, discussion even lively discussion should be encouraged otherwise you get lots of people never posting.
The forums i run do get heated at times, and threads closed but, a post is never removed by me or my Mods just because we happen to disagree with it.
Also we inform members if they've done something wrong or caused offence.

It's a shame as this was one of the last decent shooting forums left, but (IMO) now it's going like the other places, a dictatorship.

    Oh well ;)

I recon that deleting posts or threads should really be the ultimatum before getting banned and that there should be some action taken prior to the thread been deleted to try prevent the scenario from escalated getting that far, just my opinion.

    Look Steve
it wasn't directed at you personally, I was merely stating that just because you or I or anyone gets a post removed, in the big scheme of things really it's no big deal.
So get over it move on be happy, it just not worth getting all upset over.

Plus I wouldnt want the job of the mods because it's probably easier to remove a post than let it get out of hand.

    Cheer up I'm over it.

Hey i'm not getting upset, it's just this is getting more frequent now, i see a lot of posts being removed that are neither rude or abusive, and many of my posts lately are getting removed for no apparent reason?

This is not good for any forum, and a lot of the posts have members at each others throats because they don't happen to agree with something, that can't be right can it?

We get members asking all sorts of things here, if a Moderator doesn't agree with a reply even if it's polite, should they just delete it?

I don't want an argument, and i'm certainly not getting into trading insults with anybody, i just noticed there's a lot of this going on lately, and wanted to mention it.

In my humble opinion, it's only good manners for the mod who deleted your post to explain why it was done. It also lets people know what they've done wrong so that they know not to do it again. I myself had a post deleted, and I still have no idea why. It wasn't offensive in any way, and was just recommending a product that I thought may be useful to fellow shooters.

Just a suggestion, could it be due to the amount of cases going to court in recent months with regards to social media, due to one party being abusive to another or by writting something that could be taken the wrong way and could land up in court (not saying that anyone on the forum is abusive in anyway).

Just a thought and I could be well off the mark.

Why do we need to know ?
If anyone has a thread deleted then it has obviously fallen foul of the forum rules.
Im sure if anyone has a gripe then a pm to the team may provide an answer.

I used to mod on a forum, if anything was off hand etc I used the pm service to politely, also not publicly, have a word!
I do feel however that this is one of the most over moderated forums I've been a member of!!!!
But I do like it here, there's some good lads and a wealth of info and generally clever people!!

The moderators usually post a reason for a lock, not sure if they send a private PM regarding removed or edited posts but it would probably create a lot of unwanted work and waste even more of their precious time should the person decide to start a drawn out rant (which often happens)

I've had posts edited and don't really care why, if it were serious no doubt I would get a message from the mod or a ban if they see fit.
