1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

I think general crap should be kept away from the sales section, & it should be reserved for enquiries only, not comments. :)

I've got one for you on this. If someone puts something up for sale and you know that the item isn't very good, whether it be that particular item, any of the same items or in my case the item suffers from very bad backup, do you sit back and watch some unsuspecting person buy it, or, if someone is making moves to buy a particular sale item which isn't suitable for what he wants to use it, do you make a comment about it on the sale thread ???

okay i'm going to explain now.

someon on the thred mentioned that a NEW scope cost in the reigon of ....what was it:confused:

anyway, i said that that was a lot of money FOR A NEW SCOPE and that for the same money of that NEW SCOPE NOT THE ONE TC WAS SELLING i could get a good air rifle.

now, i was NOT stating thatTC was over pricing this second hand scope and in the post i never mentioned the price of TC's scope.

also the scope is that price for a reason because they are good, you get what you pay for so if anything having a scope that costs the sameas a rifle means it has to begood quality, which it is as its a leupold.

i did not try to put the person off, had you thought about the post you will have realised i never mentioned your own scope and it showed than the scope is too expensive to buy NEW and that they have to be good quality!

See A1, you can't resist. You even drop yourself in the Censored by explaining that your post wasn't relevant to the sale. If you HAD thought it too expensive at TC's price and said so, in my book that WOULD have been relevant.
I've said for a long time now that keeping sale posts active is more important to the sale than the OCCASIONAL post by anyone, just to stir the pot, but the problem is a seller will gladly accept a good point like "that looks like a good deal", but thows the dummy out if someone posts "that price looks a bit high". Both post help by getting it into the "new posts" section and if the sellers accepts the comment about being too highly priced and drops it to something realistic, that will help it sell also.
Best advice to everyone is not to interfere with sale item posts AT ALL, unless you yourself are interested in buying. This will give sellers what they think they want, but when the seller starts employing the "BUMP" tactic to get the post back into the "active" section of the forum, I'll delete the thread.

the post was relevant stating the price tobe that high new means it would be a good scope.

Your comment was only relevant to a NEW item. The one for sale MIGHT have been mistreated or damaged in some way and your comment MIGHT have persuaded someone to buy it and get landed with a right lemon. How would you feel then ??
Before anybody gets on my back, I'm not saying most people try to sell crap...but there are some and the unsuspecting new shooter doesn't need any help buying the wrong item...he does it by himself all the time.

Yeah, but if someones buying on a web forum they should at least have done some homework.

If someone gets ripped off because they haven't looked into what they are buying, who's fault's that?

Personally, if I'm buying something on the net, I'll ask around to see if it's a good deal. Even to the point of asking my local gunshop. They've always looked after me.

There will always be some skinflint who will say 'oooh that's a bit steep' but if you don't look into it yourself how do you know?
