1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

  6. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

    I have an SMK/Victory PR900W that I bought a few months ago.

The gun is great and I have enjoyed getting grips with it over the last few months - apart from when it has been raining, which, quite frankly.... felt like forever!

The rifle is unmodified and I am using a fixed magnification 6x40 Richter Optik Scope.

I charged the rifle to 180 bar(as per the rifles guage, not the pump) and did a pellet test for 4 sets of pellets with 5 shot groups. I then recharged the rifle to the same level to complete the next 4 pellets test in the same manner.

The pellets I had and tested are as follows:

    H&N Excite Plinking
    H&N Excite Econ 2
    Umarex Mosquito
    SMK Spitfire
    Victory Shock
    RWS Hobby
    ProShot Precision Heavy
    Apolo Domed

The target card I was using was a 14x14cm card and each circular target is 5.5cm across.

Each group was a 5 shot group, shooting from a rested (seated) position. All shots were loaded with the single shot tray.

This test was done at 23 metres.

There was some wind while I was doing this test which could have effected some of the shots but there were clearly pellets that the PR900 did not like.
I cannot discount shooter error for these either as i am still learning.

I may re-do this test on a less windy day and update the photos if they change drastically.

Only 2 of the pellet groups fit under a 5 penny piece - these were the Victory Shock (best of the bunch) and the RWS Hobby's.

I have posted picture below for each group referencing the pellet used.

Hope this has added some value.

    Thanks for reading.

Victory shock the best, but all the pellets used are low end. Try JSB or Air Arms.:thumb:

I can't lie, all the pellets I have are low/budget end.

I only plink in the back garden.

At some point I'll want to push it further, which will more than likely include upgrading Pellets add probably the rifle too. Lol

    I'm still in PCP infancy.

Try some, RWS super domes, JSB exact, Air Arms field diablo or Crosman premiers all work well in mine. :thumb:

With the greatest respect JaySan if you feed your gun rubbish you will get, well, just look at your targets. Whilst you may be happy plinking in your garden with pellets that should be used for Model boat ballast, you are going to have even more ripping a ragged one hole group thru the bull and for the price of those 8 tins of scrap metal you could have bought 3 tins of good quality pellets. With a budget gun (nowt wrong with that gun) you need to reduce all possible chances of inconsistency from other sources and decent projectiles is the first ,and easiest, change to make.

I've been intending to get some Gamo Match pellets to try for flat heads. Rather cheap but may be worth a go. Their precision pellet. Not a popular brand in the UK but they are on the light side.

BSA Elites can be pretty accurate but over a chrono show more variation than JSB but not much. Their flat head is the Blue Star, semi flat.

If it nearly likes Hobby's Superdome's may be good.

Real precision pellets. Well costly and often come in 200's.

@chuggypop: It's interesting how this test went as I can normally hit beer bottle tops at the same distance with all these pellets apart from the mosquito and spitfire, which are not great outside of 10m.

But this wasn't reflected in these groups.

@ajohn : I have Gamo match pellets in .22 that I use in my Beeman P17.
They are really consistent. When I'm rested, if I'm standing, I'm lucky to get good groups at all with any Pellets.

@KeithJ23 : I also have Bisley pellets in .22 but haven't opened them as yet. Don't have any in .177. may get some to try.

I also have an SMK PR900W. They are fabulous little rifles and can be consistently accurate, but my one can be bit pellet-fussy.
Quite bizarrely, my one performs really well on H&N Field Target Trophy in 4.50 size.
And JSB Exact in 4.53 size.
