1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. No longer allowed Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- We now do not allow political and religion threads anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section) unless Airgun related and they must be put in the Airgun related politics section..

Staff will not move posts for you if you put it in the wrong section – it will simply be deleted. You will then have to type it all out again and put it in the right place, so heed this warning.

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

Calling @Andy or any of the mods.
Is it possible to have a separate Politics section?
I poke my nose in the Adult section as there are a few threads that amuse me but I don’t care for all the immigration or political stuff.
Unfortunately as they are all lumped together I can’t choose to ignore them.
Just wondered how difficult it would be to create an independent, password restricted section for the people that do want to chat about that stuff?

    Cheers

Unfortunately politics is all around us and affects our lives in many ways, not least regulation of this hobby.

maybe we can have a "Not Like" button and when it gets 10 Not Likes, the post gets deleted ;)

Surely if it's an adult section where some members can almost type stuff bordering on racism, porn and other non airgun rubbish, politics is quite an harmless topic and as as been stated, you don't have to read or contribute to any political discussion. It's like asking for an air pistol section but then requesting that no chat should be about a certain type of air pistol.

Politics is a part of everyday life and does concern almost everything we do. To stop people talking politics is almost akin to stopping them talking hobbies. In other words, it doesn't do any harm to anybody and especially those who don't need to read them.

    Great idea.........not.:cool:o_O
Just imagine all those ugly Rapid pictures getting all those dislikes.

No I think the most sensible idea is quite a radical one. If it's about politics and you really don't want to read it, then just ignore it and don't read it. ;)

    It was said in jest.
Maybe the OP of a thread could ask people not to hijack threads and turn them into a political discussion when the subject has nothing to do with politics

As this thread is about politics, shouldn't it be in the Adults Only section ? o_O

There's a very simple answer for those that don't like or want to read political threads or threads on any other topic. Don't click on them!
There are some threads on here that i have no interest in so i don't click on them, what's so difficult about that.

Anyway, in answer to the OPs question; I'm afraid the answer is no - we just don't need it.

The ̶C̶h̶i̶l̶d̶r̶e̶n̶'̶s̶ ̶a̶r̶e̶a̶ Adult section is where all the unwanted junk goes - a few join it, look once then never bother again so for anyone that hasn't joined it yet you really haven't missed much.

What! and you're a Moderator surely if it's one section that needs moderating it's the 'Adult Section' the place where all the controversial and possibly smutty stuff is posted.;):D

I try to avoid the racist crap and politics gibberish but it comes up in the new post feed and soon takes over.
Would have been nice to still have access to the adult smut/comedy stuff without the other spiteful crap constantly appearing.

I guess the only way is to block adult.

    Read post one.
I asked the admin team, not you, for a separate section so those that want too can carry on discussing politics and racism to their hearts content.
I merely wanted to still see the stuff bordering on porn and non airgun rubbish without it taking over the new posts feed!

It’s a forum question. People are trying to derail it as seems the norm these days.

To those who actually contributed anything useful, that would be @Sky then, thanks anyway.

Guess the thread should be locked now
