  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

    Hey guys,

I've been target shooting for a couple of months now, I live near Oxford in Didcot. I've been trawling through the internet to try and find a good airgun shop but it seems I live in a complete black spot.

I brought a cheap Gamo for practice, I traveled 1.5 hours by car to buy and for the mrs I had Pellpak deliver one (at 2200 on a Saturday night which they said was normal for them!)

Anyway, I'm looking to expand my collection and get something decent now I'm hooked, any suggestions to a good airgun shop around the Oxford area which does a wide range of rifles?

    Thanks for the prompt replies.

I should have mentioned, I have been to the Oxford Gun Company and Otmoors which both are a good 1.5 hours round trip.

Oxford gun company were very nice, but they cater more for shotgun/clay pigeon, I looked at the stock they had, 1 small rack, no second hand.

Otmoors, this was not a very useful shop, I'm sure the guy in there is a better gun smith than a salesman.

I told him I'm just starting out and looking for something around the £200 mark to get started. After he dismissed all the lower priced rifles as rubbish and told me about all of their flaws he suggested I buy a PCP gun for £500+ and buy a dive tank/accessories. Seems he done alot more transmit than receive, he definitely never listened to a word I said.
I also asked him if he does trade in's if I wanted to upgrade later to be told that he would only rip me off and I would be better selling privately. This might be true, but you wouldn't tell a customer that.

I just get frustrated with the lack of supply in the area in general. Speaking with the Pellpak delivery guy, he said they have alot of deliveries in this area, more than most. I think that is a sign of a hole in the market.

Anyway, my Mrs comes from the Wantage area and next time I'm over that way I will take a look at Woodlands. And Ronnie Sunshine, I've never heard of them but seeing their website, looks promising.. still over an hour away, but many thanks for the suggestions, it will definitely help.

Ronnies is a good 75min from you but do have their own indoor range for testing. They too will be honest and say they wont give you a trade in value anywhere near the private sale price (they said to me think of the secondhand value and we will offer you a third!). They guys in their are really helpful, my hw95 came from there.
if you dont mind a good run out and really want excellent service then go and see jonny at R&K stockcraft at stoney stratford (70 mins from you) near milton keynes. My HW100 can from there and he is great to talk to and will spend loads of time helping you.

It's not like Air Gunners buy new Gun's every Month

I expect that in coming years there Will be even less Local Air Gun Shops

The old part of Stirchley. Not much around here now - a few places selling Chinese springers and Rod & Gun in Dawley seem to sell quite a bit of airgun stuff.

An old mate of mine used to swear by 'Feather & Fin' in Shifnal but I don't know what they're like now. Camber's Gun Room at Harley (between Cressage and Much Wenlock) used to have a pretty impressive range of air rifles (+ shotties and rim/centrefire) on their website, but it's changed hands recently and I don't know what it's like.

TFM on the Rabbit Run stock a few guns, but they're handy for pellets - not the cheapest but if you're going there anyway for dog and poultry food etc. it works out cheaper than mail order.

I still remember Turner's Gunsmiths at the bottom of Market Street in Wellington (where Wilko's is now) - I spent a few happy hours in there when I was a kid!

There is Jaynes fishing tackle in Wellington they have few bits in and also a few further afield. There is a place in Oswestry not sure of the name now though.

Can I ask where you shoot?

I'm lucky enough to have a very large and secluded garden, so as well as being ideal for target shooting there are rats, squirrels and woodies to be kept in check (I saw a muntjac deer down there a while back but they're not really in sub-12 FPE territory - still, it was lovely to see it!).

Just went in Ronnie Sunshines, the shop is very modern, the customer service was good but I wasn't impressed with the guns stocked. They all seem more high end and overall the shop was pricy.

I did get a gun case and their accessory range was very good, just about everything you could think of for shooting.

One particular thing I liked about this shop, you can street view on Google maps inside the shop and virtual walk around.

I guess the sensible thing to do would be to wait until a gun appears on here in the area and be quick to respond.

Hello natgun, try clayshooting r us near Thame, cracking little gun shop on a farm. I now use these guys for all shotgun, rifle, and airgun supplies. A word of waring though their web site is pretty crap! Unlike the shop and staff who are very friendly and knowledgeable.

Weirdly I just left there 20 minutes ago, very hidden in the farm but very well stocked and friendly helpful people.

They have pcp tanks in there which they refill for around £5, alot of 2nd hand rifles.. Just need to do some more research and decide what I actually want.

Thanks for the advice, I really wouldn't have gone in there if it wasn't for the support on these forums.
