1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

Hi all. Just acquired from my late uncle/godfather, a Weirauch HW80 standard in .22
He died 5 years agsquirrel His been sat in his cabinet all this time COCKED! I guess the main spring will be pretty knackered. Fired a few shots which went all over the place, well underpowered against a known sub 12ftlb'er kicks like a mule and twangs like the proverbial 12"steel rule on the edge of your school desk! I believe he had it from new and its unikely to have had more than a tin full through it!
    1. Sort surface rust and re blue if necessary.
    2. Clean all parts and re grease with correct lubes (advice please)
    3. Buy or make delrin drop in kit (i have workshop facilities but need advice and dimensions)
    4. New mainspring (standard) or lighten and delrin button piston/shorten stroke with appropriate new spring. Or get a firm to do this for me. How much and where to go?
    5. Buy or make new foresight.
Its to stay sub 12ftlb but it would be nice tuned for consistency. Ideally for close range ratting and squirrel control. Will firms like lazerglide etc deal with second handers?
    Many thanks IGK

I sell the delrin kits for £19.99 posted to forum members, but if you want to make it yourself get in touch when you've bought a bar of delrin and I'll give you the measurements.

I also find turning the piston into Swiss cheese reduces weight and recoil significantly.

It's a mk2 stock, but without knowledge of the serial number putting a date on it is difficult. If you post the serial number we can tell you more.

Just stripped her down. Minor kink in spring and a free length of 232 mm/ 9 1/8". Reckon I should get a replacement?
    Serial no is 1239334.
    Thanks, IGK

That makes her a 1992, by conventional wisdom. The spring I removed from my 1983 .22 HW80 was about 238mm. Personally I would think about a new spring, but only after refitting the old one, doing a polish and lube job and seeing what she behaves like - it may be that there's no issue with the spring.

If you decide to keep the spring, you could do a lot worse than fitting a Tinbum tuning kit for twenty quid, or if you want to replace the spring as well then I can recommend the Welsh Willy kits, which include the spring, power bands, washers and lubes for about sixty pounds. I don't know what your experience of stripping and servicing air rifles is, but the HW80 is about as simple as they come and with marginal work can be made into a really smooth rifle with virtually eliminated recoil, zero muzzle flip and a quiet cycle.

Good luck and keep us updated!

5 years is a long time for a Rekord trigger unit to be left in the cocked position, this is the area I would be looking at first.

Stripped cleaned and re lubed. 10 shots to settle in then 10 over the chrony. Fastest at 480fps and average 470. Pretty awful at 7.5 ftlb. New spring needed then!
