1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

I have been thinking about buying a lightweight .22 break barrel with open sights for a while. I have looked at SMK, Hatsan and Gamos and all of them just felt cheap and had terrible triggers.

Anyway I popped into Shooting Supplies in Bromsgrove today and came out with this .22 HW99s.
The young chap who served me was a breath of fresh air and was really helpful and seemed to know his stuff.

The rifle is doing 10.2 FPE with .22 Air arms diablo fields and it shoots quite nicely and cocks quite smoothly.
I have owned these rifles before and had forgotten how nice and light they are, perfect for sneaking inside the barns at the farm I shoot at.

We will see if it starts galling so watch this space!

Looks very, very nice. I have the HW95K and it’s the best springer I’ve ever owned.

Glad you didn’t go for a Gamo, it’s the worst springer I’ve ever owned .

    I've owned a 40, multiple 45's, 77's, 97's and an 80.
    Regretted selling all of them.
    Still own a 97k.
Hard to beat this brand, quality through and through.

Hi Micah. I dont think you will notice any Galling if you just hunt with it. If you Plink up to 50 pellets quickly you might but if you let the gun cool down in the middle of it then you probably have to start again. The gun needs to stay warmed up.

I did have a Gamo years ago but back then they were a bit better apart from the triggers they have always been a bit ropey.

    Thanks mate .

Yes mate once you have shot a decent springer it's hard going bact to a cheapy springer.

I will do a fair bit of plinking with it aswell though Pete so we will see if it plays up .

When you start shooting an hw99 irrespective of whether its going to grind or not, there is always a not unpleasant feeling of contact between the cocking shoe and the inside of the air cylinder. This is due to the delrin spring forcing the cocking foot into quite hard contact. If the cocking foot is reasonably well finished then these guns will probably be the few that dont grind. I have had about eight 99's and all have done it to some extent. That is why two of the jobs in the FIX are the removal of the delrin spring which is not needed and frees up the cocking stroke and the smoothing and lubrication of the cocking foot. I may have had one that did not grind but I did the fix anyway. Now I do it without shooting the gun its so quick and easy to do with a bit of a spit and polish. Then you have such a gun for £200.

What power is it shooting at Micah. I am down to one 99 at the moment. I thought of getting another .177 for the Williams and Truglo that i have. However i have decided on another 30 as they are such a sweet little gun. My thinking was there is nothing that a 30 can do that a 99 cant do better, but there is something about the 30 as many will agree. I think you had a synthetic .22 didnt you. I think the 30 has to be .177. in that calibre i am not aware that i am shooting a low powered gun. I had the delux before but I prefer the looks of the breach covering longer forend. Looking foreward to getting it as i can shoot it in the caravan which is kicking off first of March. Spain walking on the 23rd only a week now.

Nice one Micah. A little rifle with opens is not something i've ever owned. Interested how you get on with it after a few tins of Pb

I have put a few more pellets through it and it has settled at 10.7. I did own a .22 30 with the plastic stock and it was a nice rifle. Enjoy your holiday mate .

I will only zero this at 15 yards Tim so I might be able to hit things at that distance!
