90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

    Hey,

Im having a few issues deciding which rifle to get. Ideally i'd like something which i can use for both HFT and 10m so i've been looking at:

Walther Rotex R8 (nice looking, big tank so plenty of shoots between charges, magazine but im not sure whether i could get a dioptre sight for it)
AA S200 target (have used this rifle before, shoots well and is comfortable but only 45ish shoots between fills)
Gamo Coyote (looks good and a big tank but not sure whether i could get dioptre sights for it?)

Each has its own pros and cons but wanted the opinion of more learned shooters!

    Cheers

    Dan

I think your going to struggle using the same gun for 10meter target and hft, HFT is shot with 12 ftlb power limit and 10 meter taget are around 6- 6.5 ftlb

anyway I'm from your neck of the wood, Erith lovely place lol

You could always ask Air Arms if they could build you a 10m rifle with an external adjuster so you could run from 6-12 ftlbs. . knows what it would cost if they did though.

Isn't 10m single shot rifle only? Not aware of rotex or coyote having single shot capability. Dovetail rear dioptre sights are available, issue will be the foresight.

I would think you need two separate rifles.

As above, in seeking a rifle to do both you're on a hiding to nothing IMO. Firstly, as pointed out there's the energy issue (although I suspect you might be able to use a 12ftlb rifle for 10m; while 6ftlb for HFT would be a waste of time). Secondly there's the sights - you need aperture sights for 10m and a 'scope for HFT; a 'scope for 10m isn't allowed and apertures for HFT would again be a waste of time. You'll struggle to find many sporters (the guns most suitable for HFT on a budget) that will accept off-the-shelf aperture sights.

There are rifles that have varients aimed at sporting and 10m use (AA S200, AAS400 MPR) however in both cases at the very minimum (muzzle energy notwithstanding) you'll have to swap sights between then (and subsequently re-zero) every time you want to use the rifle for the discipline it's not set up for - a major ballache.

In terms of your choices; the multishots are both completely unsuitable for both diciplines; the Coyote especially so as the trigger and ergonomics are horrible. The S200 is most appropriate, but as stated above only really good when set up for one discipline or the other.

All depends on the budget, but a reasonable, affordable starter route might be a used AA S400 (around £350-400 with glass) for HFT and a used recoilless spring rifle such as the FWB 300 or Original 75 (around £300) for 10m. Bear in mind that 10m is a demanding, repetitive sport that has a high attrition rate - as it seems you're new to it you might not want to commit to owt too expensive to start with incase you decide it's not for you..

Ultimately viability of expectations needs to be reconsidered and more homework needs to be done ;)

Thanks guys. Im edging more towards HFT shooting anyway in my mind as it seems more varied but im visiting a second indoor club tonight who im hoping will allow scoped guns for practicing on the 10m range. A little pointless but its a stone's throw from my house and if i'm going to spend the money, i want to get as much use out of the rifle as possible.

Also, i can always buy a cheap co2 pistol for small club events!

The cadet version of the scorpion comes in at low power and is fitted with aperture sights. It may be worth investigating wether the aperture sights could be purchased separately and fitted to a full power scorpion. This may also apply to the Hammerli Ar20 as I believe they also do versions of this rifle for the 10m and FT/HFT disciplines. Somebody better qualified to comment may help out.
    All the best,Stu

    two very different disciplines,

    needs two very different guns

    10m - diopter sights

HFT - good fixed mag or sidewinder scope

10m would be cheaper to start with,
you can go for any sidelever diana/original or fwb springer for 250-300 pounds,
CO2 hammeril CR_20 - about the same price
PCP hammeril ar_20 - one hundreed bucks more + charging gear
(don't do chinese SMK 78 as it's rubbish from out the box)

HFT you can shoot with anything you like, but usually kit starts seriously above 500-900 pounds
