90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

    Annual bump for NOBS http://www.nobs.org.uk/beating

If you are new to shooting and are struggling to find permission or would like to get involved in a shooting estate near you now is the time to register with NOBS.

All the game shoots will be recruiting their beating teams over the next month.
It costs £10 to register with NOBS BUT there is no guarantee a shoot in your area will be looking for people.

Many game shoots give first priority of any vermin shooting to their beaters, only after the beaters will those door knocking get a chance.

Beating is a great day out and a good way to get your foot in the door. You will normally get around £30 to cover your costs and will often be invited to a couple of days shooting game at the end of the season.

Once you are known you will normally get invited pigeon roost shooting in Feb and March, possibly picking up year round vermin shooting if you make a good impression
    Cheers Andy

Great thing Andy got some nobs used to turn up to an old syndicate I was in.

Trying to get them to form a proper line was a job in itself:D

Good thing for start up DIY shoots, gets NOBs walking in the right direction at least:D

Once got told about a guy turning up to beat with a pink pom pom hat on and jeans, neadless to say he was sent on his way with the keeper.

So word of advise to anyone thinking of going beating for the first time, please dress appropriately.:D

No pink Pom Pom hats but we did have someone turn up in trainers :) I bet he wore boots nest time lol

Andy, I've heard you can get paid for beating with the shot game.

    Is this true?

Most shoots give beaters 1 brace of birds and £30.
You can normally take as many extra braces as you want for £1 a brace ( depends shoot to shoot)

Thanks, I'm in North Kent/South London. Do you think I will get to do much beating in Kent?

Can't see why not I used to work on a large shoot in Surrey much of the land bordering the M25 motorway and another in Sussex that was fairly large. Plenty of large game shoots in and around the London area.
All depends on what shoots are looking for beaters and if their existing beaters have mates they want to bring as to weather it gets advertised by nobs or not.
You can also ask around for beating in the local area also, of course.
    Cheers Andy

Of course James you will get loads of good shoots in kent, I used to work with a few lads from Kent and they were all shooting men, when I worked at H&H.

I wish I got £30 for beating I did it for about 8 yrs for free.

These young uns now don't know they are born:D I did it all season simply to shoot beaters day.

Some good shoots like Andy says will pay £30 give you a brace of pheasants maybe partridge if your lucky and let you have a shoot on beaters day.

Only problem is those shoots are few and far between around these parts in my experience, but joining NOBs is a good way of finding the better shoots as they will tell you up front what you will get.

    Thank you Andy & Elliot.

I'm not fussed about £30 either way but the possibility of getting 62 pheasants for a day of beating. Woo-hoo!

Think I'm going to join NOBS!

How many you will be allowed to take will depend greatly on the shoot and the days bag. Don't get too excited lol:)

    62 pheasants for a days beating! you've lost me.

A couple of brace is about all I ever got, the rest went to the game dealers.

Lots of shoots sell the bag off to beaters who want extra birds normally £1 a brace.
I often take 10 brace if there are enough to go round at one shoot I pick up on.
All depends on the shoot some shoots will have a total bag of 100 some will have a bag of 600.
Most shoots would rather sell surplus to the beaters than let the game dealer steal them at £1 a brace.
    Cheers Andy

Great idea. They could've come up with a better name than NOBS though...

    True.

I think I would have called it BUMS: Beaters Under Management of Shooters.

How about no nobs and bums lol

And maybe "Beaters" just a thought like.

Then someone would nickname it "wife beaters" no doubt:D

But your right Andy about the birds mate, if someone wanted more on one shoot I went on you could take maybe 5-6 brace, but if someone filled their car a few eyebrows would be raised Im sure.

Yes I think 30 brace would be a little much. Lol :)
However hang around until last and you never know. Park the car VERY near the game larder:D
One of the shoots I attend the landowner decides how many he wants for him self and lets the Beaters take the rest for free. He hates the game dealer getting them at a silly price.
    Cheers Andy

I might just buy 30 brace at the auction. I wouldn't want to turn up as the new guy and cause trouble.
