1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

Try this guys and it will improve your shooting.
Set out your targets being .22 or .177 at your min to maximum "killing" range and instead of learning the holdover/under write down how many clicks it is instead. Instead of holding over and guessing the range this way you only have to guess the range and dial in the clicks and aim bang on. Trust me its MUCH easier and the room for error is halved.
    CONSTRUCTIVE CRITISISM IS WELCOMED.

Sounds useful to me . I'll try it next time i go shooting.Sounds fine for target shooting but hunting i'd dont think i would try it. Not had first hand experience yet of hunting but sureley you cant be faffing aroud try to change the clicks as you line up your quarry. I wouldnt of thought you would have the time.

Nikko scopes dude try them, I can't hear them click only feel them. I found 90% of the time wasn't good enough so I opted for this method. Call me a perfectionist or a 100% kill every time man. This takes me way past my aim point markers, can take out bunnies to 100 yard with this method honest.

That's how i do it, but i have made a turret tape with the ranges on so you just turn to the range and shoot. :)

Thats a good idea dude. I just scribble on my hand. How primitive! 50+16 55+22 and so on.
I like a bit of stalking too but sometimes when open ground is between there is no choice. Each to their own I think and I think this scope click method works for me the best.
I use .177 mainly so Im not sure how it will compare with .22 as in will there be enough clicks to get beyond 60 yards from a 30 yard zero?!
Will try tomorrow as a nice day off work.

Depends on your scope (Clicks per revolution) and how much movement you got left in your turret.
I zero my scope without moving the turrets using adjustable mounts, so have loads of adjustment left. :)
One full turn on my scope is 60 clicks and that gets me to 50 yards, i could use a two line range tape and get to 70 yards with 2 full turns of the turret so it should be easy for you to get to 60 yards and beyond.

    okay constructive critisism.

click= noise, rabbit runs away (okay i know its not that loud but you never know!)

movement=loss of cammouflage, only works when still.

you swering when you forget how many clicks you'r meant to do or you over twist and the rabbit runs off:D

    100 yards!!!
I sincerely hope that is a FAC gun as it's urinating in the wind for a 12 ft/lber. (it's way optimistic at FAC too).

A good 12 ft/lb .177 set-up is going to get nearly 4 foot of drop at 100 yds. The difference between 99 and 101 yards is 2 inch (difference between a kill and a miss) so I have no doubts that it's a 100% impossible shot. Even the best pellets are going to retain only 3.5 ft/lb of energy and using dialling you'd be over two full turns on most turrets. Using hollowpoints or similar will make even these figures look good.

Buzz if your knees and concerntration dont allow you to put practice in at your age then you may think a 100 yard shot is impossible.

Right! I went every day shooting for 3 months to practice and felt confident to take such a shot.
Even you guys said a .177 at 100 yards retains 3.5ft/lb and a rabbits skull requires 4ft/lb to penetrate therefore it is possible and I have done it with full confidence which is all that matters isn't it?
So get practising guys, you sound as if you need it.

You don't need to worry about my fitnes or mental levels Richie, Clay shooting and piloting aircraft keep me up to scratch, as does having a wife 20 years my junior. Accuracy isn't the point here, only an irresponsible egotist would put a 100yard shot at live quarry before the well being of the intended target. A sub 12 ft/lb rifle will not kill a rabbit cleanly even if you are lucky enough to hit it and it's far more down to luck than skill.

Math doesn't seem to be your strong point either. If you have 3.5 and need 4 that's a 0.5 deficit..i.e. bounces off!!!!
